A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
I just want to acknowledge that next week is a BIG DEAL! It is a week that we acknowledge the efforts and hard work of our ENTIRE Rye Elementary staff. I want to thank them for everything they do, the care they show for our students every day and how incredibly welcoming they have been to me this year. We are so lucky to have them in our children's lives. Please take a moment next week to send a quick note and let them know what you appreciate about them. Remember, this week is to celebrate ALL of our staff as every adult in this building is a teacher in some way or another!
On May 8, students will wear their classroom teacher's favorite color, which will make for a pretty amazing class photo they will never forget.

We have arranged spaces and staff for our Kindergarten students on June 15 (full day) and 16 (half day). This will be run similarly to the Rye Rec program and we would like to thank them for their incredible flexibility and teamwork! Students will spend this time in the Rye Rec rooms at RES and the staff will be from Rye Rec as well.
We would NEED to know if families want to utilize this Rye Rec option so PLEASE email Staci Ryan at sryan@sau50.org.

Placement for 2023-2024
Based on the small community that we have at RES, sometimes with only two options for class placements, we cannot honor any requests. HOWEVER, if you have an extenuating circumstance that is truly unique and should be considered, please email Michelle Pitts. This information will be considered, but due to many factors, may not be possible. After class placement for 2023-2024 is sent to students, we know that we can work through any potential challenges that were not originally anticipated because we value teamwork, especially between home and school.
Below are some factors to consider:
-We only consider information from this current year as we may not be privy or have information about particular relationships between students, etc. from previous years.
-Please do not assume that incidents between certain children will be recalled during the placement process as this is a challenge when so many factors are being considered.
-It is important to understand that anything written will be shared with teachers after the Principal has read them.
-Requests for specific teachers cannot be honored. The process of placing students is multifaceted, rendering it impossible to honor these requests.
-Please understand that the Rye Elementary staff cannot take calls or discuss placement regarding specific placement requests. To do so would compromise the hard work of all involved.
