AVA Family Update

Good morning AVA Students and Families,
As per usual, I have next week's schedule and the guidance and community updates below.
We have ELA MCAS retests next week, and students who are required to take them have been notified. I will send another notice next Tuesday as a reminder.
We also have two days off for students next week. With these and all other holidays, these represent real opportunities for students to catch up if they are behind. Any student needing assistance on these days to unlock tests or need something so they can progress in their work should feel free to email me for help. I don't check my email all day everyday on weekends and holidays, but I do check it frequently so students can work on their own schedules. Please take advantage of this offer.

MCAS English/Math
The MCAS English and Math retests are coming up next week. AVA students who will be taking one or both, here are some free online study materials:

Naviance
This is a kind reminder that all AVA students grades 9-12 have access to the online College and Career search tool Naviance. Seniors who plan to attend college someday: it is strongly recommended to use Naviance to start browsing for post-secondary schools now and save a list in Naviance; your data will be saved, even after you graduate. Email Ms Nellie (below) anytime if you forget your password. Below are login instructions and recommended Naviance activities based on grade level.

NCAA Registration
Another kind reminder: students and families who are interested in participating in collegiate sports through the NCAA. Please register online at the Eligibility Center website (linked HERE) sooner than later. Although you may register even after high school graduation, we strongly recommend doing so while still enrolled in high school to ensure a smoother transfer of school records and information. AVA's CEEB code for NCAA registration is: 220067.

ASVAB Military Exam
For any student thinking about joining the military after graduation, passing the ASVAB exam is necessary to join. Atlteboro High School administers the exam for free to students, and the first administration is coming up next month! Here are the dates and sign up link:
