November Students of the Month

It our pleasure to announce Adam Hermiston as 6-1 Student of the Month. Adam, is kind to others. When a new student came to our school Adam went over to him and started explaining to him what his day was going to look like. He then walked that student to his first period class of the day. Adam has a great personality that he can work with any of his peers. Adam was a great role model and the classroom and his house during first trimester. He is constently pushing his classmates to do better work and be better friends. He is an excellent role model for Jefferson and we are proud to have him as part of our Jefferson family.

We are pleased to announce Erika Rohner as 6-1 Student of the Month. Erika hits all three of the words we live by: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. Erika is a conscientious student and always checks to make sure she is doing her work to the highest quality. She is respectful to both students and staff in both the hallways and classroom. We can always trust that when we walk in the room, Erika is doing the right thing. Thanks for always doing the right thing Erika. We are so happy to have you as part of the Jefferson family.

House 6-2 is proud to announce Abby Kramer as Student of the Month! With her positive attitude, and respectful character, she is a joy to be around. Abby works hard to always be the best she can be and to do the best that she can. She is respectful to her peers, offers a helping hand, and often puts the needs of others before herself. Abby is an excellent problem solver and consistently follows our guidelines for success by being respectful, responsible, and safe.

Dawson Mussmann shows lots of character each and every day. He is respectful to adults and students. He always tries his best even when something is difficult for him. He shows interest in learning in all of his classes. His positive attitude is contagious. He makes people laugh with his jokes, even if they are having a rough day. Dawson is willing to help others out at any time. He volunteers in class and goes above and beyond the teachers’ expectations. Jefferson Middle School is lucky to have Dawson’s friendly smile throughout the halls. Keep up the good work, Dawson!

Tyina’s relaxed attitude is always appreciated. Tyina is able to remain calm in stressful situations and also able to calm her peers down in those situations. She can often be seen in class helping struggling students. Her problem solving skills are much appreciated by her teachers, when she has a problem she does her best to figure it out on her own. While subbing Mr. Metz found her of great value in the classroom. Mr. Metz said she helped to make her days go smoother by answering questions he had. Tyina’s awesomeness isn’t just limited to the classroom. She was a great asset to the Thomas Jefferson volleyball team. Her serves and spikes brought many “W’s” for the Hillhawks.

House 7-1 is proud to nominate Carley Hayes for student of the month. Carley’s gentle and kind demeanor is a breath of fresh air. Carly is a dedicated Hillhawk helper and her smile is always welcomed when she comes around to count for Jefferson apparel. Her helping with Hillhawk Helpers doesn’t stop there, she is always willing to help a peer out. Something that can often get overlooked is Carley’s great ability to make lasting and positive friendships. She not only has a love for her friends but a love of animals. In her free time Carley loves to ride horses and bake. We are so lucky to have a responsible, kind, and caring student like Carley in house 7-1.

Myles works hard in class and alwyas tries to be prepared for class. He is a hard worker with his academics. He does not complain about his work and tries really hard to get it done on time. He has shown a lot of growth in class and continues to work up to his top potential. Myles is always positive and demonstrates respect towards his peers, the staff and other faculty members. He exhibits good character and follows all of our school rules. He makes sure that he is on time to class and he gets right to work.

Paige is always prepared for class. She makes sure that her assignments are finished and handed in on time. She advocates for herself by asking what else she could do for class. She is extremely helpful in homebase by passing out papers and helping students that need help getting caught up. She has volunteered to be a calendar helper and does not complain about doing her work. She does above and beyond work and with great quality. Paige gets along with other students and is respectful to peers and adults alike. She follows school rules and is always on time.

Respected by both peers and staff members, Elizabeth can always be counted on to be a collaborative group member. Elizabeth has little down time and is active both in and out of school. Besides participating in Lego League, Elizabeth plays volleyball and runs track. She participates in Jefferson’s marching and jazz bands, playing the clarinet and barisax respectively. Elizabeth is also an avid softball player and plays on Sherrill’s softball team as well as the Stingrays. She holds herself to high academic standards and earned her a spot on Jefferson’s Gold Honor Roll. With Elizabeth’s overall character, she is an excellent representative as our November

For the final month of 2014, House 8-1 is proud to select Jacob Horch to represent us as our Student of the Month. Jacob has been at Jefferson since 6th grade and enjoys hanging with the friends he has made throughout the years. As a Jefferson athlete, Jacob wrestles at 120 pounds. Coach Morehouse says Jacob is a team player who always listens and works hard. Jacob also trains in kickboxing at the Dubuque Martial Arts Group. Jacob’s character and determination have earned him a place on the Silver Honor Roll. House 8-1 is proud to have Jacob as our November

Gabby is a conscientious student who contributes to discussions as well as speaks up when she has questions. She takes pride in her work and makes every effort to come to class on time and prepared to learn. In addition to academics, Gabby is a leader in band too. Mrs. Wirtanen said that Gabby is always “helpful, responsible and respectful”. ​

Nick is an excellent student who takes all school work and activities very seriously. He is always in class on time and comes prepared for the day. He is a model student who actively participates in any activity and encourages his classmates to do the same. Nick is a great friend to all of his peers and very helpful and respectful towards adults.
