Welcome to Cardinal Pole's Good News

After a restful Summer holiday, we were delighted to have everyone back and see new and familiar faces.


This term we have had many highlights from welcoming our new Year 7s into our school, our Open Evening and celebrating Black History Month. It has been a successful and eventful start to the year and I would like to thank the staff for their organisation of activities and events for Black History Month. Our students have displayed a huge amount of enthusiasm and pride in celebrating Black History.


As a school community, we have been reflecting upon the contribution of Black figures and using this time to engage meaningfully with Black History and culture in the form of books by Black authors, student presentations on Black History and culture as well as the much-appreciated talks by members of staff and guests.


We look forward to the exciting opportunities and successes this academic year has in store for us.

Top Book Picks by Black Authors

Black History Month is well underway in our Library. The top picks include I'm Not Dying with you Tonight by Gilly Segal, Kimberly Jones, and Kimberly Latrice Jones and Jeffrey Boakye's Musical Truth: A Musical History of Black Modern Britain.

Black Hair Presentations

During prep time our students delivered presentations on Black hair, the students were confident and knowledgeable. It was great to watch the well-researched presentations!

Prayer Garden

Our Year 12s flexed their green fingers to make our prayer garden a quite peaceful place for students of all faiths to reflect and pray.

BBC's 'Share Your Story' initiative

We were delighted to host the BBC as part of their 100th Year and their 'Share Your Story' initiative. Radio 1's Alex Mansuroglu, a Presenter and Producer, Journalist Jacqueline Shepherd and Producer Anastasia Stankovsky shared their stories of overcoming challenges and their career journeys with students in Years 7-10.

Music Education

We’ve made a great start to music this year with instrumental lessons up and running and plenty of singing and performing in the school already.

Herts Young Mariners Base

Our Year 7 students were given the exciting opportunity to spend the day team building. They learnt how to make their own rafts and stay afloat, how to Kayak games and archery!

Welcoming Our New Year 7s

Our students in Year 7 received their new planners which will help them to stay organised and reach their fullest potential. Their planners are full of tips, tricks and learning styles to help the along their secondary school journey.

Dyslexia Awareness Week

During Dyslexia Awareness Week we have raised awareness about Dyslexia amongst staff, students and our school community.

Adjusting a font, using an overlay or a spelling dictionary are small efforts that have a tremendous impact for those that need it.⠀

6th Formers Attend Workshop at Federated Hermes Limited

Our 6th Formers attended a Stock Picking Workshop at Federated Hermes Limited.

The day included a networking lunch, an insight into what portfolio managers, financial analysts and investment managers do, and a task deciding which companies to invest in based on information they were given, which they then presented on.

Student Leaders and our new mission statement and values

Our student leaders in Years 10 and 11, Bartu, Brianna, Janee, Shiphrah and Georgina made a video talking about our new mission statement and values.

Open Evening

We had an amazing Open Evening this month where we were able to showcase our brilliant school through fun lesson activities and tours.
