Join one of our upcoming listening sessions about GLOBE Elementary
Dear GLOBE community,
As we continue our journey toward purchasing and opening GLOBE Elementary, we hope you will take advantage of one of the upcoming opportunities to get your questions answered and provide input on our school’s new home.
Please join representatives from GLOBE's Board of Directors, our Executive Director, and our partners at Freespace Architecture at one of the sessions below:
Thursday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m. at Lower Campus
Please join us at LC’s Village Plaza. In order to allow students to get settled in their classrooms, parents will not be permitted to enter before 8:20. Please submit your questions for this session by May 7.
Wednesday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Upper Campus
Please join us in the UC cafeteria. Please submit your questions for this session by May 14.
Each of these sessions will also be live streamed; links will be provided as the dates approach. Note that teachers and staff will have a separate dedicated session.
There will be opportunities to ask questions in-person, but submitting your questions by the dates indicated above will allow for our partners to answer for greater thoroughness and efficiency. (As you develop your questions, you may wish to revisit the FAQs shared last month.)
We look forward to sharing our progress and answering your questions, hearing your input and connecting with you about the future of GLOBE.
In community,
GLOBE's Board of Directors
Dual Language Immersion Professional Learning Tour
Mrs. Daniel, our Director of Language Program, recently participated in the panel Connecting World Languages Across the Curriculum. Mrs. Daniel shared how GLOBE's innovative language program is paving the way for global citizens, our GLOBE graduates, to join the workforce with their advanced language skills in their years beyond their time at GLOBE. "It's not just about language, it's what you do with language," Mrs. Daniel shared. Our GLOBE students learn to critically think in a language and gain the necessary skills for intercultural competence to contribute to the national and international global workforce that can make a positive impact on society.
Mrs. Daniel also spoke about the Cross Curricular Innovation (CCI) Grant GLOBE received from The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). Through the CCI Grant, GLOBE high school credit and middle school language teachers are writing integrated lesson plans utilizing the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for Modern Languages, the Advanced Placement Language and Culture Themes, as well as the GSEs for Science and English Language Arts.

Safety and Security
Look out for an email over the next few weeks regarding safety and security here at GLOBE. While we can’t publicly share every measure we have in place, we do look forward to highlighting some of the protocols that we follow to maintain safety and security. We will also be introducing the School Resource Officer assigned to our school and suggesting ways in which our community can assist to help promote a safe and secure environment.

Admissions
Language placements for incoming kindergarten students were sent out on Friday. We are now looking forward to officially welcoming all of the new children to the student body. We will open our doors to our new kindergartners on May 1 and May 8. We ask that every family register their new student for this Special Assessment/Visit Day designed especially for them. It will be a fun and memorable day for all.
Remember three things about this event:
1) You must register for the event.
2) You will not be able to stay with your child during the one hour they will be with our Kindergarten team.
3) You must wait for your children in the Village Plaza.
Spaces are filling up quickly. If you wish to register, please send an email to Admissions or call Saphiatou N’Jie on (404) 464-7040, ext. 221, and we will send you an invite directly. Please only register for ONE slot. If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.
