CSD Top 3
Your monthly school district newsletter
Thursday, Jan. 5
Dear Canby School District Community,
Here in Canby School District, we are so excited to have students back in the schools after a hopefully refreshing winter break. As you send your student(s) out the door in the morning, know that we are working to respond daily to our vision question: How do we create a vibrant and engaged learning community dedicated to growth for all? We care about your students!
Now, please enjoy the year’s first Top 3, those things we think you ought to know plus the lunch menu.
A Kind Word Can Go A Long Way
Carus students Hattie Kruger and Emmersyn Fish, along with friend Addalyn Weber, deliver letters to older adults living in a Canby care facility.
Before winter break, a couple of Canby students decided they wanted to brighten someone’s season. Carus fourth-graders Hattie Kruger and Emmersyn Fish used their extra time in Anna Stokes’s class to pen letters to older adults living in care facilities. During the break, they joined up with another buddy to deliver the notes. The residents were so grateful for the gesture! Thank you to these students for exemplifying compassion in our community.
Staff Kick off New Year Learning
Before students returned to the schools, Canby’s instructional assistants kicked the new year off with a time of professional learning. IAs from across the district met together in a central location and then split off into two back-to-back sessions of their choice. One of the many session choices offered guidance for staff interested in becoming certified educators, and another was tech-centered with a focus on Google Suite and digital formatting. Staff could also choose to learn about AVID, using an interactive notebook, building relationships with students, and much more.
