Canvas Support for Inclement Weather Days
Practice on January 9, 2023
On January 9, 2023, there will be an inclement weather practice day. Below are the step-by-step directions for both teachers and students for that day.
Teachers:
- Import the inclement weather module (button and quiz) from Canvas Commons.
- Download the inclement weather button to your teacher device.
- Upload and link the inclement weather buttons to the inclement weather modules on your course/subject pages.
- Unpublish the inclement weather module if completed before January 9.
- On January 9, 2023, publish the inclement weather module and quiz.
- Elementary Only - Create an announcement in your homeroom course explaining in what subjects students will find their inclement weather buttons.
- Monitor the quiz results and follow-up with students who were unable to access the inclement weather module.
Students:
- Elementary: From their homeroom in Canvas, read and follow the teacher directions on how to access the inclement weather buttons from your subjects.
- Secondary: Access the inclement weather buttons on each course page in which they are enrolled.
- Take the quiz.
Inclement Weather Day
Below are steps that teachers and students will take during an inclement weather day.
Teachers:
- Prepare the module based on the expectations outlined in the Inclement Weather Asynchronous Resource Canvas Course.
- If you have yet to enroll in the course, use the following enrollment link: Enrollment Link.
- Ensure that your inclement weather button is linked to your learning module.
- Elementary: Create an announcement in your homeroom course explaining in what subjects students will find their inclement weather buttons.
- Published all modules and module content by 9:00 a.m. on the inclement weather day.
Students:
- Elementary: Navigate to your homeroom and follow the directions set forth in the teacher announcement.
- Secondary: Navigate to the inclement weather button in each course scheduled for that day.
- Complete modules.
