Dear Families,

We are quickly approaching the end of the school year, a school year unlike any other that I have experienced, but also a year that I have enjoyed greatly. This being my first year at Mabel Rush, I wanted to express to all of our students, families and staff how welcome I have felt and how quickly Mabel Rush has felt like home. I believe I have one of the best jobs in the world. I would like to thank all of you for the opportunity to work and support the Mabel Rush community.

Student Items for Pick Up Opportunity: Monday, June 8, 2020

We still have a few bags of student items needing to be picked up. We will have staff available in the building on Monday, June 8, 2020 between 9:00 and 3:00. If you have not yet been able to stop by the school to pick up your student items, you are welcome to do so on Monday. If you need to arrange a different time for pick up, please contact Monica Skaggs at 971-281-9626.

Farewell 2020 Drive Through Celebration - June 9, 2020 Mabel Rush Parking Lot

Mabel Rush staff really miss their students and want to give them a proper send off to summer. Our staff will be at Mabel Rush on Tuesday, June 9th from 2pm to 3pm. Families may use the Mabel Rush bus drop-off area to drive through in their vehicles and wave goodbye to our staff. The staff will have signs and be wearing their Mabel Rush gear! Our staff will be spaced out in order to practice social distancing. Everyone will need to stay in their vehicles as they drive through. Please enter and exit following the attached map below. We hope to see you there!

5th Grade Drive Thru Promotion

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020 between 5:30 and 7:00 pm we will be celebrating our 5th grade students with a drive thru promotion. 5th grade students and their families are invited to drive through the drop off circle in the front of the school to receive their promotion certificates and Outdoor School t-shirts and to say goodbye to their teachers and staff members.

Summer Food at Mabel Rush

Monday, June 8th is the last day of food service at Mabel Rush for the 2020 school year. Starting on Monday June 15, 2020 food service will resume at Mabel Rush for the summer. Summer meal hours are being finalized and we will share the new hours with you next week.


Summer SeeSaw

Since school was suspended in March, we have been using SeeSaw for student work and parent messaging. We are happy to report that we have partnered with SeeSaw to continue to provide students and families with learning activities over the summer. Starting the week of June 15, we will be posting weekly learning activities to your child's SeeSaw account over the summer into August. Students can access the learning activities via their regular SeeSaw account. Look for another email announcement later next week.


Report Cards

Report cards will be mailed home from the Newberg School District office on June 17, 2020.


Kindergarten Registration

We are continuing to accept kindergarten registrations. You can find registration materials online, and can also arrange to pick up a packet from the district main office. Summer Reading Opportunities from the Newberg Public Library
