It was sooo exciting to see all of our rising 7th graders and their families at open house. We can't wait to see all of our BCMS scholars on August 6th! Your student should have received a manilla packet that contains many forms that need to be completed, signed, and returned as soon as possible! We would like to be 100% turned in by Friday, August 10th. All manilla envelopes with completed forms should be turned in to your student's homeroom teacher.

Our 7th grade supply list is below.

The bell schedule is school wide. All scholars will follow this schedule. This year, 7th grade will have connections during 2nd Period.

We are thrilled to provide your scholar thirty minutes of reading every school day. Most days this will be individual time but later in the school year, we will read have some group reading titles. Please help us ensure your child has a book to read during this time. We encourage students to read on topics of their interest. Ms. Dyson, our librarian, is also going to help students secure texts that they are excited to delve into!

We have one grade level Remind which will be used to keep you informed about academic information, school events, and field trips. Please make sure that you sign up! You can receive the information via text or email.

We love MAP testing because it displays student scores as soon as the test is complete.

This information will also help us determine your child's current Lexile and academic abilities.

Students will review each class syllabus, grade level expectations, and the student handbook this week. Instruction will begin in each of the following areas as well.

Math: Students will start work on ratios, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units.

ELA: Students will begin the first unit titled "The Unexpected Journey," which will focus on citing textual evidenced & information and narrative writing. Students will also begin reading The Hobbit both in and out of class.

Science: Students will take part in an inquiry based classroom this year, so expect lots of hands-on labs. This week, we will focus on lab safety rules and the scientific method.

Social Studies: Students will review map components and commonly known land forms, which will be used as they start their own map autobiography project toward the end of the week.
