Meet our wonderful Camp Managers
History of Kaupokonui Beachcamp
On 5 May 1980 the Kaupokonui and District Beach Society gifted the beach site to the Crown as a recreation reserve subject to the Reserves Act 1977 for the benefit and enjoyment of ‘in particular’ the people of South Taranaki and NZ . The ‘day to day’ management of the Reserve was delegated to the Kaupokonui and District Beach Society.
The Kaupokonui & Districts Beach Society is a non-profit organisation with the sole purpose to enhance the Reserve while providing affordable camping to the general public.
Since that time the Committee, Society members and Friends of the Kaupokonui and District Beach Society have voluntarily maintained the buildings, sought funding from community funding agencies to enhance the beach-camp through a range of development projects.
Without this voluntary support from members of the society and their families who manage the projects, funding, maintenance and property, finance, and media. KDBS would not be able to provide this wonderful facility for community enjoyment.
We even had snow 'donated' at the camp this year!!
Jumping the rocks on the beach
