Principal Update

Happy Friday!

LP is doing something different this year and joining the entire district in our first ever "Socktober" event! Starting Monday, 10/17 we will be collecting new socks, mittens, and hats for a local homeless shelter. We will collect these donations through Monday, October 31st. To sweeten the deal, all students will participate in a Socktober themed spirit week October 24-October 31. Please see the flyer below for more information. Thank you in advance to any of our families who are able to donate to this cause!

Our amazing PTA is partnering with us to incentivize and reward our students for participating in Socktober. Each classroom is provided a box they can decorate which will be used to collect donations. The class with the best box decorations will win a pizza party! Also, the class with the most donations will win a pizza party. As a culminating event, we will come together as a school community for LP's "Socktober" Fest Movie Night! This will take place Friday, October 28 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. See the flyer below for more information!

Help support the Eastridge Boys Basketball program this year by purchasing some Eastridge Slides! A portion of each sale will help support the Boys’ basketball program. There are youth and adult sizes available. The sale will end on November 1 and slides will be delivered within 30 days. Once the slides are arrive, we will have a curbside pick-up at the high school. All orders can be made online using the QR code or the web address below.

PLEASE JOIN OUR FAMILIES AND STAFF FROM DURAND EASTMAN AND LAURELTON-PARDEE SCHOOL FOR OUR SATURDAY MORNING FAMILY CONNECT. SCHOOL STAFF WILL CONDUCT 30 MINUTE SESSIONS ON HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR STUDENTS AT HOME WITH READING, MATH, AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING. WE WILL ALSO HOLD A PARENT ROUNDTABLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND HOW TO EFFECTIVELY MANAGE ALL THAT OUR KIDS ARE BEING EXPOSED TO ONLINE.

BABYSITTING WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM OUR NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY STUDENTS FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL!

In the library this week, students have been sharing a 'Cup of Kindness' after reading Be Kind, by Pat Zietlow Miller. This week also kicks off our Book Character Pumpkin Contest. Students and their families are invited to decorate a small pumpkin like their favorite book character. Pumpkins can be dropped off in the library to display and be entered into the contest. Please no carved pumpkins! All pumpkins are due by November 1st and need to be picked up by November 4th.

The East Irondequoit Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee will reconvene for the 2022-23 School Year starting on Wednesday, September 28. All meetings will be held in the Laurelton-Pardee cafeteria from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Our focus this year will be on culturally-responsive and affirming curriculum. We welcome the participation of East Irondequoit district members at one, many, or all of our meetings each year, but pre-registration is required at this link: https://forms.office.com/r/34D8cfxGFx. As we get acclimated to a new school year, please make sure that we have a note or phone call into the main office if you are picking up your child from school. If you will be picking up every day, there is a form you can fill out for the year. Please contact the main office (339-1370) for more information.

Also, if you are dropping off your child to school in the morning, we follow a one-way exit pattern for efficiency/safety purposes. You will drop your child off at the first set of double doors on the south side of the building. You will then continue driving around the back of the building, through the utility access road, and out central office to Norton St. On Monday, you will see signs and staff members to help facilitate this process. Please note, we cannot allow cars in the bus loop during morning drop-off or allow cars to turn around and exit back onto Pardee Rd. due to safety concerns.

The state requires that we send out a Digital Equity Survey each year. We do so through the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. This provides us with more accurate information about who has internet access at home and who does not.

The survey can be seen in the “Message Center” in the “Surveys” tab (Picture below!)

In order to access information like transportation, report cards, iPad protection fees, etc., you will need to create a parent portal account.

How do I create a Parent Portal Account?

Parent Portal Instructions:

In order to create a parent portal account, you will need to have an email address on file with the district before you begin. If you do not already have an email address on file with the district you will need to call the main office of your student's school from a phone number associated with you and your student in order for them to update your information. If you have neither an email address nor phone number on file with the district, you will need to visit your student's main office in person.

1. Visit www.eastiron.org, click on the Infinite Campus link, select Campus Parent and click the "Click here to request a parent portal activation key" link on the Campus Parent homepage. You may also choose to go directly to the URL below.
   https://ic.eastiron.monroe.edu/campus/portal/custom/requestActivation.jsp
2. Enter the email address that you provided to the district in the box and click the "Submit" button.
3. You will receive an email with your activation key.
4. Click the "New User" link on the Campus Parent homepage (refer to step 1 if necessary).
5. Enter your activation key in the box and click the "Submit" button.
6. Enter your desired username, password, confirm your password and click the "Submit" button.
