WAVM Chapter 74 Students Honored at Film Festival
Please join the Communications Department in congratulating the many students highlighted at this year's Art as Activism Film Festival in Beverly, MA. The Festival was open to all high school students in Massachusetts. The top 10 videos from the state were screened in front of a live audience, with the top 3 winning prizes.
"Our annual Art as Activism Film Contest challenges high school students to explore the world around them and use their creativity to highlight injustices we face in today’s modern world through film."
SIX of those top 10 videos were created by our own students here at MHS. Of the top three winners, Maynard got both 3rd place and 1st place. We are so proud of everyone who participated. Please take a moment to watch the finalists and winners below!
FINALISTS:
Tacy Carter and Ella Puglielli
Dylan Gallo, Ryan McLaughlin and Blake Dreskin
Jaime Gonzales and Jack Dunton
Tacy Carter, Ella Puglielli, Jack Dunton and Jaime Gonzalez

1st Place Winner

Congratulations to Mr. Ogden and his students for their important contributions in bringing awareness to these sensitive topics.
FOOD PANTRY RESOURCES AT MAYNARD HIGH SCHOOL
Maynard High School offers a small Food Pantry that is available to students, who may take home items for their family. The free pantry is located in the nurse’s office and students may access it by asking the school nurse or their school counselor. Students may take enough food and supplies for their household. Typically, the following types of items are available:
Rice, pasta and macaroni and cheese
Dried and canned beans
Peanut butter and jelly
Canned and dried fruit
Canned vegetables
Cereal and granola bars
Deodorant, soap, shampoo
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Pads and tampons
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
This school year, ALL STUDENTS can receive a free breakfast and lunch every day at school. However, if you think that your family might qualify, we strongly encourage parents/caregivers to complete the free and reduced lunch application. Qualifying for free and reduced lunch also qualifies students for reduced cost and/or fee waivers for various school related fees (bus fee, field trips, SAT test fees, AP test fees and college application fees). The online application is available here: https://www.nlappscloud.com (social security numbers and proof of permanent residency are NOT required).
There are two community food pantries in Maynard that are available to Maynard residents.
The Open Table Food Pantry (www.opentable.org; 33 Main St, Maynard) is open on Tuesdays, 3:30 - 6:30 PM and Thursdays, 1 - 4:30 PM and offers free bags of groceries 1x/week. Open Table also allows families to pick up frozen meals for family members weekly.
The Maynard Food Pantry (www.maynardfoodpantry.com; 82 Main St., Maynard) is open on Mondays from 10 AM - 12 noon 1-2x/month
