Katy Virtual Academy Opt-In Deadline Extended
OKE Parents,
The below information was sent out by Katy ISD yesterday afternoon. We wanted to make sure you all have seen this updated information regarding the KVA deadline extension. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
The deadline for families who wish to opt into the Katy Virtual Academy (KVA) virtual instruction option, for the first grading period of the 2020-2021 school year, has been extended. Students who wish to elect the virtual instructional option through KVA must submit a KVA commitment form by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 7. This is the same deadline students have to opt-out of the KVA virtual learning option for the first grading period.
Parents who elect the virtual instruction option through KVA may elect for their child(ren) to return to in-person instruction at the beginning of the second six week (secondary) and nine week (elementary) grading period. Likewise, parents who elect the in-person instruction option may switch their child(ren) to KVA at the beginning of the second grading period as well.
Parents who elect in-person instruction for their child(ren) do not need to complete a commitment form nor notify their child’s campus. These students will participate in the Intermittent School to Home Virtual Instruction beginning on August 19 through September 4. Students, who choose to begin in-person instruction, will return to campus on September 8.
We appreciate your cooperation with adhering to the Friday, August 7 deadline to opt-in or opt-out of KVA for the start of the school year. It is important our campuses have adequate time to finalize student schedules in preparation for the release of schedules via the Home Access Center on Monday, August 17, and the first day of instruction on Wednesday, August 19.
