June 2023
A Note From The Principal
Dear Wonderful Torrey Hill Families,
Did you hear that the fabulous Mrs. Robin Powell, current 4th grade teacher, will become the next Torrey Hill principal? She was recently named the new principal effective for the 2023/24 school year.
After 32 years in education and 17 years as principal of T.H.I.S., I have decided to retire. This is an open letter of gratitude to the Lake Fenton community as it is a near impossible task for me to personally thank each and every one of you individually. Over the years, I have been so incredibly blessed to have worked alongside with a wonderful staff, quality central office leadership team, dedicated board of education, and many amazing third-fifth grade students of Torrey Hill Intermediate School. Torrey Hill has always been a future-ready inclusive school with staff providing innovative teaching styles while loving each and every one of your kiddos. I am so proud to have been part of that team!
The world has so many adventures to discover and I look forward to spreading my wings to discover what lies ahead, My dear husband, Mark is pretty happy about it too! It has been a wonderful career and I thank you for sharing your children with me. You are in good hands with the fabulous Lake Fenton family serving you in the future days ahead!
Best,
Mrs. K. Conover
Principal, Torrey Hill Intermediate School
Directions for Viewing Student Report Cards in Synergy
We have practical, parent-friendly technology within Lake Fenton Community Schools. One tool many of you are familiar with is our ParentVue system, sometimes referred to as Synergy. Your student's report card information can now be obtained within ParentVue under the "Report Card" section. You will need to login to ParentVue to access 4th marking period and final grades. Updated report card information will be available by the end of the day Friday, 06/09/23. You will also have the option to print a .pdf of your student's report card if you'd like a hard copy. This is the same process our Middle School and High School families use to access their student's report cards. Please do not hesitate to contact our school if you would like further assistance.
School-Issued Chrome Books Can Be Taken Home This Summer
Fantastic news from our Technology Department, as students will be allowed to take their chrome books home for the summer! If applicable, encourage your student to report any necessary repairs or current damage to Mrs. Jenio before the end of the school year.
Reminder- there will be a $20 fee collected in the fall of 2023. If there are damages or repairs reported when students report back in the fall, the repair will count toward their first repair for 2023/2024 school year.
Current 5th graders will be receiving new devices in the fall, so please monitor your email in August for pick-up procedures. If your student is NOT returning to Lake Fenton, they will need to return their chrome book to Mrs. Jenio in the library by the end of the school year.
FIELD DAY 2023
Wow, what an amazing Field Day we had last week!! I don't think we could have had better weather. We hope your student had as much fun on field day as we did. The students enjoyed exciting games, cool treats, and an intense tug-of-war competition. Best of all, the kids displayed exemplary sportsmanship and smiles and laughter were aplenty. Field Day would not have been as successful without the support of our amazing volunteers and our generous community. Thank you to the following who helped make our day fantastic:
- All our wonderful volunteers who took the time out of their day to come help ensure Field Day ran smoothly and the kids had a blast. We truly appreciate your time and efforts.
- WS/TH PTO for donating water balloons, ice, and popsicles to help keep us cool! check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/LakeFentonPTO
- Mario's Pizza for donating so many pizza boxes for our pizza box relay! Check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057638252053
- Dr. Wax Orthodontics for donating backpacks with a snack and water for EACH student! That was a tall order for so many students, but they delivered! Check them out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/waxortho/ )
- The Women of the Moose 2364 for their generous donation used to purchase many supplies for field day! Check out the Moose Lodge on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LakeFentonMoose
It takes a village, and WOW, do we have an amazing village here at West Shore and Torrey Hill. Thanks again to all those who put forth effort to ensure the sun was shining down on our amazing students this field day!
Sincerely,
Jamie and Garrett

Full-Time Counselor At Torrey HIll
Our school counselor is now full time at Torrey Hill! We are so thrilled to have Mrs. Caldwell here to support all of our students in a variety of ways. She has already provided Xello (career planning) resources to all students. In addition, any student may request her support on an "as needed" basis. Small groups are conducted for many students, as well. These groups take place weekly and if parents/guardians wish to have their child opt out, please put requests in writing. Groups focus on internal and external concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, friendships, bullying, aggression, etc. Again, we are thrilled to have Mrs. Caldwell provide support to all of our Torrey Hill students. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Conover, Principal, your child's teacher or Mrs. Caldwell.

Change In End Of Day Pick Up?
Any bus changes must be approved by the principal at least 24 hours in advance. Students are not allowed to take alternative buses home unless their is an emergency situation. Please do not use bus transportation as a means of transporting friends for after school social or extracurricular events. Our buses have capacity limits and we cannot add students to bus routes. We care about the safety of our students and therefore must closely monitor ridership on our school buses.
