What a busy week we've had! We began by celebrating Valentine's Day with our friends. Students were excited to share cards with classmates and teachers. It was so cute to see so many of us dressed in red or pink. Today we celebrated the 100th day of school, which is a very important day for our K-2 kiddos. In kindergarten, students brought in collections of 100 objects to share with friends. In addition to 100 day learning activities, first and second grade students did a new activity this year and dressed up as 100 year olds! They were adorable! Please be sure to check out Facebook and our webpage to see pictures. We will roll right into Friday where we will begin with a Student of the Month Assembly recognizing students who went above and beyond in meeting our learning target of "I can make and be a good friend." We culminated our busy week with our Read-A-Thon and special snack! PHEW, we've earned that vacation. Have a safe and restful week off.

Remember the Read-A-Thon Pledge Forms and payments are due February 27th. Any checks should be made out to Phippsburg Elementary School or PES. Thank you for your support.

It's time to Vote!

PES students in Kindergarten through Fourth grade will be voting for the Chickadee Award book for the State of Maine in March. To help students be prepared to vote on their favorite book, I have posted recordings of all the books on the PES library website: https://sites.google.com/rsu1.org/peslibrary

Do you, or someone you know, have a child living in Phippsburg that will be five by October 15th? If so, they are eligible for our full-day kindergarten class. Please call Mrs. Doran at 389-1514, and we'll add them to the list for this fall, and contact you when we schedule Parent Information Night and Kindergarten registration and screening. Advance notice helps us to ensure we have enough materials. We look forward to assisting you.

Have you moved? Not using your old Post Office Box? Please let the office know of any change in your contact information, including phone numbers and email addresses. A change of address outside of Phippsburg will require a Residency Verification form. Thanks for keeping in touch!

PES holds a marine permit and is looking for saltwater creatures for our touch tank. If you are still fishing, and you happen to catch a small sea creature (fish, starfish, small crabs, hermit crabs, sea urchins, sand dollars, clams, mussels, sea cucumber, etc.) we'd love some for observation in the school's tank!

Callie Wells is taking care of the tank this year; you can call her at 446-6137, or email phippsburgpta@gmail.com to coordinate.

The next 8-week K-5 Mad Science before school program begins April 5th and ends May 31st. If your child is interested in participating in Mad Science's Secret Agent Lab program, please register online at maine.madscience.org by March 24th. We need a minimum of 10 students to hold the program at PES (parents provide transportation to school on these Wednesdays). Scholarships are available; if interested, please contact Mrs. Doran at 389-1514 by March 24th. FLYER is attached.
