Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Faraday Challenge 2019
Congratulations to Year 8 students Daisy, Holly, Thomas, Denisa and James who won the Faraday Challenge Science competition this year.
Carnegie Kate Greenaway Awards
Students have been busy reading the Carnegie Kate Greenaway shortlists and taking part in activities.
Year 13 Biology
Year 13 Biologists have created punnett square examples from their inheritance and genetics revision lessons this week in Biology.
Rohan - Young People of Courage Award
Year 10 student Rohan was nominated for and received the Corby Phoenix Rotary Young People of Courage Award at the Holiday Inn along with 3 other students from Corby based secondary schools. Congratulations Rohan on this amazing achievement. Rohan is pictured below receiving his award.
Stars of the Week:
Students:
- Mr Rogers and the PE department have nominated the following, Year 10 students Finlaye, Leah, Ethan and Elle and Year 9 student Abbie who were fantastic ambassadors for the school at the High Seas event at Rutland Water. Also nominated are the Year 9 students who represented the school at the district athletics, Grace who finished 1st in the Long Jump, Andrew finished 3rd in the 200m and Rio who finished 3rd in 1500m, well done to you all.
- Miss Connellan has nominated Year 9 student Gabby for fantastic poetry work in English.
- Mrs Vaghadia has nominated her Year 12 Psychology students who have created amazing neuron and brain models for the biopsychology topic we are currently doing, in particular Taylor and Dany who have worked really hard this week and Year 9 students Klaudia and Katie for completing their first report write up for Sociology.
- Mrs Morgan would like to congratulate her Year 11 Art students for completing their Art GCSE this week.
- Miss Fenner would like to say well done to her Year 9 English students for their excellent work on our anthology competition and Year 12 students for their progress on the Handmaid's Tale in Language and Literature.
- Mr Hirst would like to say good luck to the Year 11 Design and Technology students who will be sitting their GCSE exam during the school break.
- Mrs Brown has nominated Year 13 student Kara, Year 12 student Mikey and Year 11 student Aidan for working with her and increasing their knowledge on exam essay writing.
- Mrs Hopkins has nominated Year 7 student Jonathan for a fantastic presentation on Elizabeth I in History, it was very well researched and delivered for homework.
- Miss Watt has nominated Year 11 students Maddie and Adam for their dedication and determination in German.
- Miss McGrath has nominated her Year 8 Science students for a fantastic practical lesson this week on Chromatography.
- Miss Benson has nominated Year 11 student Caitlin R for her excellent commitment to study in Geography.
- Mrs Ferns would like to congratulate Year 8 students James, Holly, Gabriella and Daisy for fantastic results in the Year 8 end of term assessments.
- Mr Horne has nominated his Year 7 mathematicians for a great term studying Probability.
Celebration of Student Work
Author Visit
Tamsin Winter visited school and held a special two-hour creative writing workshop for students with a particular talent and interest in creative writing.
Year 9 and 10 Rutland Water Trip
Students were given the opportunity to take part in an exciting event at Rutland Water in collaboration with Pathways.
STEM Event
Students completed activities on confidence-building in Science, Technology, Maths and Engineering
Attendance Matters
Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.
Whole School Attendance
Whole school attendance is 94.32%, this is below our target and we need to see improvements next term.
Best Tutor Group
Best tutor group is 8CO with 100%, well done to Miss Hallybone and your tutor group.
House Winner
House winners this week are C house with 94.67%.
Reminders:
- School will close today for the two week break. Tuesday 28th May is a staff training day, school will reopen to students on Wednesday 29th May.
