Plano Middle School Weekly Update

Week of Monday, January 4th - Friday, January 8th

Plano Middle School Families,

January 4th - 8th is the first week of Semester 2.

Monday is the last day of Winter Break and Tuesday and Wednesday are Teacher Institute Days.

Classes will resume on Thursday, January 7th starting at 8 am.

From January 7th through January 15th Plano District 88 remains in an Adaptive Pause and all classes will be Full remote during this time, as they were from Thanksgiving to winter break.

On Tuesday, January 19th Plano District #88 plans to return to Hybrid learning. Please see below for some IMPORTANT changes to the Hybrid Learning schedule at Plano MS.

Return to Hybrid Learning - January 19th - CHANGES

With a return to in-person learning expected beginning January 19th, Plano MS plans to continue with the 4 day a week class schedule that has been successful during the Adaptive Pause from December 1st to January 15th. We recognize the importance to provide more instructional minutes, daily contact, and consistent instruction while adhering to the safety expectations established by the ISBE and IDPH.

Jan 19th and Beyond

All students will receive 4 days a week of instruction following the same schedule we used during the Adaptive Pause. Students who were "in-person" learners prior to the Adaptive Pause will attend school 2 days a week in-person and 2 days a week remote. Full Remote students will attend all classes 4 days a week in a remote platform via ZOOM.

7:40 - 7:55 Advisory

8 - 8:55 Block 1 (Period 1&2)

9 - 9:55 Block 2 (Period 3 &4)

10 - 10:55 Block 3 (Period 5 & 6)

11 - 11:55 Block 4 (Period 7 & 8)

1pm - 3pm Office hours and help sessions for small group instruction and intervention

Tuesday and Thursday

Group A students will attend school in person while Groups B, D, F students will join class remotely

Wed. and Friday

Group B students will attend school in person Groups A, D, F students will join class remotely.

This daily schedule will indeed provide more consistency for all our students, result in them being more accountable, and significantly increase the instructional minutes over the pre Thanksgiving model. Our staff is and has always been committed to being Resilient and Flexible as we constantly look for ways to be Better and provide our students with the best services we can within the guidelines we are given.

If you would like to request a change to your student's status from In-Person to Full Remote, or Full Remote to In-person please contact the Plano MS Student Service office at (630) 552-3608 (extension 7415) or by emailing Theresa Byelick tbyelick@plano88.org. Changes can be requested beginning Tuesday, January 5th. Please note that if you are requesting a change to In-person learning, we will need 24 hours to confirm whether we can accommodate the change due to capacity limitations in classrooms and on buses.

Attention all Semester 2 Art Classes!

Art Supply Packets can be picked up from the Plano MS main office beginning Tuesday, January 5th between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Monday - January 4th - No School Winter Break

Thursday - January 7th - Classes Resume! 1st Day of Semester 2
