Notes from the WGHS Principals
January 29, 2022
Message from the WGHS Admin Team
It is unbelievable that we are already at the end of the first semester! After a year of hybrid or remote learning our students have done an amazing job adjusting to being back in school five days a week, and we are already halfway through the school year. Midterms were successful, and many of our students had their first ever experience taking an exam that required such stamina. They did a fantastic job! Please see below for a few notes in regards to the next couple of weeks! Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
The WGHS Administrative Team
Semester 2 Starts on Monday!
Safety Reminders
As we start the 2nd semester, please continue to be very careful in the front circle at both arrival and dismissal times. Pull all the way up and do not stop directly in front of the front doors. In order to keep the traffic from backing up onto West Genesee Street you must pull all the way forward before allowing your student to exit the vehicle. In addition, do not allow your student to exit the vehicle until you have reached the drop-off zone. These signs are in place for student safety. Please drive slowly through the circle and watch for students crossing from the interior lane. It is also very important to watch for student drivers entering from West Genesee Street in the morning or exiting the lot in the afternoon. While yes, in some situations you may have the right of way, please remember that these are new drivers and it is imperative that we use extra caution.
Blood Drive at WGHS
Attention juniors and seniors, please consider becoming a blood donor! Every 2 seconds someone in America needs blood. On February 14, West Genesee High School will partner with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive. There is currently a national blood shortage and your donation can help! Every donation helps and can save up to 3 lives! Celebrate this Valentines by showing your love, rolling up your sleeves and donating! You can make a difference! You must have a signed parent or guardian permission slip which you can get with this link, visiting Mrs. Ostrander in C115, or looking for the NHS Red Cross tables in front of the cafeterias during lunch.
