The Mustang Minute
Week of April 18th
FROM THE PRINCIPALS' OFFICES
Greetings Mustang Families!
We hope this issue of the Mustang Minute finds you relaxed, rejuvenated...and enjoying this "interesting" April weather! Hopefully this snow will melt before we know it and the true springtime weather we're all craving will be on its way!
In looking at the weeks ahead, there are several important dates coming up on the docket. We encourage you all to read on to keep yourselves informed so that you don't miss a beat! We will also be wrapping up our Forward state testing in both buildings this week. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our students, who have been AWESOME throughout this entire process, putting forth their best effort and being respectful of others while testing. We are so proud of you!
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, Mustangs!
Mr. Braden and Mrs. Franz

Community Art Class Opportunity: Pottery!
An Interesting Student Talent...
One of the best parts of being a principal is learning about all of the amazing things that our students are up to outside of school sponsored activities and events. This week, I had the chance to speak with 8th grade student, Dylan Moran.
For those not in "the know", Dylan is a tremendous artist. You can often find him doodling in his sketchbook during lunch and recess. He has created several different series of works of art. What's most interesting though is how he comes up with his drawings. First, he draws a random line or shape on the page. Then he visualizes how he might turn that line into something unique. Another method he has used is thinking of two or more different things and then combining them into one cohesive creature. Pictured below are some of Dylan's more recent works of art. Bravo, Dylan! You are so talented!
BROOKWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: BE BROOKWOOD!!!
Students observed going above and beyond in being kind, being safe, and/or being responsible are issued “BE BROOKWOOD” tickets throughout their school week. Each week we randomly select students from this group and acknowledge them in our morning announcements and in the weekly MUSTANG MINUTE. Help us congratulate the students that were selected this week:
Kindergarten- Noah, Nora, Michael O., Landon, Nico, Harmoni, Rosi, Avery, Eian
1st- Lizzy, Payton, Dylan, Eli, Sophiah, Bella, Levi, Stone, Lucy
2nd- Alan, Sawyer, Riley, Bradley, Lola, Wyatt
3rd- Adalynn, Eli, Amara, Jacob, Gwen, Jackson H.
Congratulations to all of our BE BROOKWOOD ticket earners and keep up the great work, Mustangs!

Reminder: Our track season starts April 19th, and all 6th-8th graders are eligible to participate. Family Bicycle Event
Brookwood Family Bike Ride is on April 30th from 9-12 at BMS! We are raising awareness and funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, promoting bicycle safety, and information on great trails in Wisconsin. This great opportunity is sponsored by the Brookwood Family Organization, Genoa City Educators' Association, Genoa City Police Department and Avant Cycle Cafe.
The Nippersink Trail 6 mile ride for older and more advanced cyclists will start at 9 am. Our shorter ride in Hunters Ridge is geared for those younger riders and will begin at 10am. Information and education will be ongoing through 11:30am and a hot dog lunch, donated by the BFO, will be provided. Come and join this fun day! Pre-registration is encouraged.
BMS Clothing Closet
BMS Clothing Closet is a resource for our middle school students whose families might need a little extra help with clothing needs. If your family could benefit from gently used clothing for your middle school children, please reach out to Mrs.Garrett with questions or specific needs. Mrs. Garrett will have "open" shopping hours for students on Fridays during lunch/recess time in the art room beginning on April 8th.
