Dr. Anderson's Update
Dear RMA Colleagues,
IIt is hard to believe the month of November is upon us. With three weeks of instruction left before our Thanksgiving Break and three weeks before our Christmas Break - now is the time to finish the first half of the year strong. In doing so, we must recognize that relationships are critical, one size does not fit all, and accountability that inspires only comes from commitment and meaning.
Our goal as educators should be to remain student-centered in all decisions while providing a safe, educational environment. The core business of any school district is to provide engaging and appropriate experiences for students so that they learn and can apply their knowledge in ways that will enrich their lives and ensure their well-being.
Not only is RMA a credit recovery school district, but we also focus on drop-out prevention and accelerated learning with a growing selection of CTE options. We offer a second chance at education for many of our students, and you, as staff members of RMA, are contributing to their success and making their dream a reality. The students are the reason we are here, and you can touch more lives in a school year than most people affect in a lifetime.
As we approach this time of thankfulness and express our gratitude, I would like to take this time to say "Thank You" for all that you do for our students, our district, and one another. You are deeply appreciated,
Sincerely,
Dr. Armard Anderson
Superintendent of Schools

NOVEMBER IS NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
RMA ODESSA FOOD PANTRY
Odessa Partners with West Texas Food Bank to provide a food pantry to RMA students and their families. Based on research from Feeding America, the West Texas Food Bank believes the best way to serve children in secondary schools (grades 6-12) are through school pantries on campus. Students and families who meet the income guidelines can visit the pantry and receive food on a regular basis.

10. Most school districts and states don’t look at all the right data to improve school attendance. They track how many students show up every day and how many are skipping school without an excuse, but not how many are missing so many days in excused and unexcused absence that they are headed off track academically.
