Nutrition Services Appreciation Week October 10-14
It’s Nutrition Services Appreciation Week. Our kitchen staff, Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Clough, prepare and serve well over 500 meals a day for our Collins Coyotes. Can you imagine? Seeing our kids well-fed is important to them and it shows! We appreciate all their hard work and dedication.
Tuesday, October 11th, Quality School Portraits will be at Collins to take your student's picture. Picture packets were sent home last week. Parents have two options to order pictures; complete the picture packet form, include exact amount or check and return with student on October 11th, OR parents may place the order online at www.qualityschoolportraits.com and follow the instructions there. You will need to use the code COLL22. QSP asks that students do not wear green on picture day!
Do not send envelops to school until Picture day!
SchoolStore
Hello Parents,
Today, your child is bringing home a Parent Information Envelope letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.
The SchoolStore fundraiser is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to http://schoolstore.net to sign up. Our Collins code is 365686.
2. Send form emails inviting family, friends, and co-workers to support your child.
3. Return the Envelope with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.
Be sure to ask your child for the Parent Envelope tonight. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!

Dismissal
Please help us make parent pick-up as smooth and quick as possible:
Pull to curb near your sign (based on first letter of student’s last name).
If siblings have different last names, use youngest sibling’s last name to load together.
No loading in left lane. Please try to avoid blocking left lane.
Stay in your car unless helping student load on driver’s side.
Please be patient and courteous and let drivers out.
Thank you for helping keep our dismissal safe and efficient!
Have you heard about Right at School?
Franklin Pierce Schools has partnered with the YMCA of Pierce County to offer before and afterschool care for several years. Due to limited capacity, the YMCA is no longer able to offer childcare to support families at Collins Elementary. Right at Schools launched a new before and afterschool program at Collins Elementary. To learn more, visit www.rightatschool.com.

Sexual Health Education Opportunity for Grades 4 and 5 families
WA PREP for Healthy Youth knows that strong parent/caregiver engagement is a key component of young people’s health, safety, and well-being. This is true in every area of their lives, including Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (CSHE) implementation. WA PREP is recruiting parents/caregivers and young people to review eLearning micro-modules. All pilot participants will be paid for their time. These modules will focus on engaging, age-appropriate content and supports to guide conversations with young people around CSHE-related topics.
This work will take place virtually in mid-September. If you are interested in this opportunity or have questions about the process, please email WA PREP director Christine Hagstrom, at chagstrom@cardeaservices.org.
IMPORTANT SCHOOL REMINDERS
SCHEDULE CHANGES - The end of the day at Collins is very hectic. If you forgot to send a note in the morning (which is preferred) and need to call the school with a change to your child’s schedule, please do so before 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 the office is busy assisting students and parents and will not be able to answer your call or get a message to a student before they leave for the day. All end of the day schedule changes must be made through the office, not with the classroom teacher. Thank you!
EARLY PARENT PICK-UP If you need to pick your student up early, we ask that students be picked up no later than 3:45 due to our end of the day congestion. To preserve precious class time, we do not call students to the office until you have checked them out in person (remember your ID).
UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION - If any of your information has changed (address, contact info., email address, etc.) please contact the office right away. This year more than ever, it will be important to have the most current information. Also, let us know what your preferred method of contact is - phone, email, text. You can reach the office at 253.298.3400.
