CIMS Families -

It's hard to believe we are approaching FEBRUARY, a month with some very important items on the calendar.

First, we are going to be celebrating and honoring our 4 school counselors from February 1st - 5th for National School Counseling Week! Please take a moment to express your gratitude to Mrs. Hanberg, Ms. Allen, Mr. Hauck, or Mrs. Jones some time next week - their commitment to helping our students feel safe & find success is exemplary!

Also, February is Black History Month. Our students throughout each grade level will be engaging in various activities, lessons, and studies related to the profound impact and importance of many African Americans. Students will also be receiving information on a Black History Month poster contest! Stay tuned!

Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will continue to have instructional days on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday virtually. Application Days will continue on Tuesday/Thursday.

*6th - 8th grade in-person hybrid learners are set to return on February 17th, again following a black/gold schedule. See below for more details.*

Questions related to scheduling can be directed to your child's grade-level counselor or grade-level administrator.

ATTENDANCE REMINDER: If your child cannot attend a virtual Zoom class, please make sure a parent/caregiver calls CIMS to report the student as absent. The virtual learning environment is different from in person learning for many reasons; however, we still expect a parent/caregiver to notify us of an absence. Student self-reporting of absence reasons is not considered appropriate or official; we must hear from parents/caregivers.

TEXTBOOKS: Some families still have student textbooks to pick up in our main office. Please stop by any school day from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM to pick up your child's books!

UPCOMING DATES TO NOTE:

  • February 1 = School Picture Day for in person 5th graders
  • Week of FEBRUARY 8 = Midterm Grades due!
  • MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15 = No School (Presidents' Day)
  • TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16 = District eLearning Day (ALL STUDENTS access learning materials virtually from home)
  • WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17 = Hybrid/In Person students in grades 6-8 return to school, resuming the black/gold schedule. Feb. 17th is a black cohort day.
