Canby High School Family Newsletter
For the Week of Sept 2nd to Sept 8th, 2021
Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
We are back and off to a strong start! Students returned on Monday, and most are energetic and happy to be back in person. Our “No Backpack” day helped welcome students to our school and provide an opportunity to meet classmates and connect with staff. Yesterday, we returned to our regular schedule, and classes are underway.
Like any new school year, there are challenges during the first few days. Our recent closure and lingering COVID impacts have complicated the start of this year. We were surprised at our enrollment numbers, and we currently have seen nearly 100 new students to CHS. This has resulted in larger class sizes and more crowded facilities. Also, our scheduling process was disrupted and delayed this year. Consequently, schedules were not as complete as we would want. We apologize for any inconvenience and truly appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we meet these challenges.
Finally, we appreciate everyone’s efforts to comply with our safety directions on wearing masks and maintaining social distance. As a reminder, we want students to keep three feet apart whenever possible. Thank you for helping us all stay safe!
Go Cougars!

Athletics
Competitions for the 2021 fall season have begun! This week for varsity we host Sheldon in volleyball today, boys soccer travels to McKay tomorrow, and our football team travels to Dallas on Friday. Both cross country and girls soccer have competitions coming up next week. Let’s go Cougs!
The Master Athletic Schedule is located here. However, there is a shortage of officials statewide in all sports so changes are likely to occur. We’re still looking to add games to our JV2 boys and girls soccer schedule. When we make a change to any competition, we update the Master Athletic Schedule first and then communicate the change.
This year, we have again purchased a license to broadcast all our home games on the NFHS Network for free! Away games may still require a subscription to the NFHS Network. Please go to NFHSNetwork.com and create a free account to watch all our games in the stadium and main gym.
