IB Learner Profile
This February, the BCHS IB community will focus on being communicators. The IB learner profile describes communicators as those who “express [them]selves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways…collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.”
As the IB learner profile’s definition suggests, there are two parts to effective communication: sharing one’s own ideas and listening to others’ ideas. And as a former Chief Justice of the United States, John Marshall once said, “To listen well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.” While it’s common knowledge that listening is often much more difficult than talking, the BCHS IB community strives to be communicators in both senses of the word. We invite and challenge everyone to join us in pursuing this goal.
