Wohoo, Thanksgiving break is here! On behalf of everyone here at Corona High School, we wish all our Panther families a great break as we kick off this holiday season!

Reminder: Our second WASC parent night will be held on December 12th at 6:00 pm in our library. This is your opportunity to provide your input on our accreditation report. As we did the first meeting, we will provide dinner; to ensure we have enough food for you, we ask that you please RSVP to Mrs. Maffucci (rmaffucci@cnusd.k12.ca.us) or Ms. Vega (cvega@cnusd.k12.ca.us).

Iliana Santos was recognized at the CNUSD Red Ribbon reception on November 21st for earning second place in the Creative Writing contest! She wrote about living a drug-free lifestyle. Congratulations, Iliana!

On November 21st, Martha Hootman and Rachel Aguilar were recognized at the CNUSD Classified Employees of the Year reception held in our Performing Arts Center. Martha works in our Child Care Center and Rachel is our cafeteria manager. Congratulations to both ladies on being selected by their peers!

Today (November 22nd) we had an emergency lockdown drill during 5th period. Please take this opportunity to talk to your student about school safety; remind them that if they see something, they need to say something to you or a staff member. It takes all of us to ensure a safe campus! RAWR!

Corona High Aviation got an exclusive behind the scenes VIP tour of United Airlines Flight Operations at LAX on November 20th. Thanks to Vishal Vithlani and the staff of United Airlines for the tour! If your student is intersted in a career in the aviation industry (pilot, maintanence, etc.) please have him/her see Mr. Peterson, or you can email him directly: coronahighaviation@gmail.com.

Photographers in Digitial Photography 2 were tasked with creating their own macro-studio to capture images of water drops. While they received no help from their mentor, they were able to use knowledge of shutter speed, ISO, light placement, and composition to create these truly amazing images. This collaboration is stunning! They did an amazing job and really enjoyed this activity. Some were very pleased with the work they produced!

Our Panthers for CHOC Club is working hard on their toy drive for CHOC Children's Hospital. Collection boxes will placed around campus when we return from Thanksgiving Break, or you may bring your unwrapped toy to donate at our Pancake Breakfast with Santa on December 14th at Applebee's on McKinley. Let's help Team Torres and our Panthers spread some holiday cheer!

Don't let your Panther miss this year's MECHA Dance on December 6th! Tickets are a great deal at $10/$12 with ASB and without, respectively.

To promote RAWR behaviors (see below), WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading), and overall Health and Wellness for all staff and students, we are implementing Panthers Gettin' Fit. Each Month, Panthers will focus on a different RAWR behavior. Each week, Panthers will focus on a different component of WICOR in the classroom and a different component of health. In addition to our Panthers being academically healthy, we want them to strive for optimal health in all facets of their lives. We want our Corona family and community to join us in our quest for Panthers being Fit and On Point! RAWR!

Congratulations to Elisa Huerta and Victor Ceja for placing 2nd and 4th, respectively at the Big VIII League finals at Andulka Part in Riverside recently. They both advanced to the CIF prelims where they had to finish in the Top 15 to move on to the finals. Victor finshed 22nd, and Elisa placed 10th, which means she's on to the finals tomorrow (November 23rd) in Riverside. Good luck, Elisa!

Congratulations to the folloiwng student-athletes for being selected as all-league academic athletes! This is quite an accomplishment given the amount of dedication to excel in just one area, and they did it in the classroom and in their respective sport!
