Welcome to BIS!
August 19, 2022
Message from the Principal
We cannot wait to welcome our 3rd and 4th graders to BIS and kick off another amazing school year! We miss the joyful laughter, sweet smiles, and silliness of our students during the quieter summer months. Our teachers are wrapping up their summers and starting to prepare for the upcoming year. By this point, you should have received welcome letters in the mail to identify the name of your child's homeroom teacher. If you have not, please reach out to us.
Below is some important information about the beginning of the year, drop-off/pick-up procedures, open house, and school supplies.
First Day of School
- The first day of school for BIS students in August 31, 2022.
- The BIS school day runs from 7:40 AM - 2:20 PM (we dismiss at 12:00 on early release days)
- Students should bring a backpack, water bottle, lunch (if bringing a packed lunch), snack, and any other items communicated by the classroom teacher. Please leave toys, sports equipment, or other non-essential items at home.
- Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home in the afternoon.
Morning Arrival
- Drop off begins at 7:40 at the back loop of BIS. Once staff are outside to welcome students, caregivers will pull forward in one line to the designated areas for students to unload. In order to keep students safe, we keep cars in one single line for the entire drop-off line.
- There is no parking during morning drop off and parents are asked to stay in their car. We ask that you pull up and students are ready to exit the car. This will help keep the line moving, prevent traffic on Hill St, and allow students to come into school safely and promptly.
- Students should be in class at 7:55 every day, otherwise they are considered tardy, and must report to the office at the front of the building. Families arriving after the drop-off window will need to drive to the front of the building.
Afternoon Dismissal
- Similar to drop off, parent pick-up will take place at the same drop off location in the back loop.
- Please keep to the right and do not double park.
- Our staff will be outside assisting you and your child in learning our dismissal routine. Prepare for a slower procedure at the beginning of the year while we teach students the dismissal process. Some days we have a large number of students getting picked up and our priority is always student safety.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
We are excited to start an awesome school year here at BIS!
Sincerely,
Lindsey Nadeau
