Principal's Update
In our current era, connecting with others is often a challenge. The phone book no longer lists phone numbers for all Greenfield residents. You may or may not be able to find the parent of a child's friend on Facebook. And if don't walk to pick up your child, you might not run into any other parents knowingly.
The tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, has highlighted, for me, the importance of community. As the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. As a child, I was lucky to get to know the parents of many of my friends. Lessons and tips shared my friend's parents sometimes were resonated more than those of my own.
In this last week of school, I encourage you to find a way to connect with another parent/guardian. This might mean sending your phone number or email with your child to pass along to a friend or two of theirs that they hope to play with over the summer. I encourage you, when your kids play, to talk to the other parent/guardian a bit. When we work together--home, school, community, we create a network of support that encourages all of our children to grow into capable young adults.
