Weekly Wrap-Up #21
Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." – Thomas A. Edison
Week 21:
MAP Testing: Last week in Cucinella was spent wrapping up the second round of MAP assessments for our students in Grades 1-5. These assessments provide our staff with valuable feedback on how your children are growing over the school year. The MAP assessment results provide teachers will specific topics and skills to target and address to help your child grow as a learner. Click this link for a quick video explaining what the MAP Growth assessment is all about. More information about NWEA and their assessments can be found here.
Lost and Found: The lost and found is housed directly outside of the Main Office, and we are happy to help students if they are looking for something in particular. Thanks again to Mrs. Inskeep for keeping this updated and accurate. Please take a minute and check out the collection and see if any items belong to your child. https://www.facebook.com/cucinella.lostandfound.1/
Outdoor Recess:
Please keep in mind that even when the temperatures are very cold, we still make every attempt to get our students outside for recess. In conditions of extreme cold, we may not stay out for our full recess period, but we will take the students outside for a few minutes in order to provide them with much needed fresh air and some physical activity. Please be sure that the students are coming to school dressed appropriately. Sending students with coats, hats, gloves and other winter apparel is greatly appreciated.

ABSENCE PHONE LINE IS PERMANENTLY SHUT DOWN!!!
PickUp Patrol has been in effect since early November and we are very happy with the positive feedback we have been receiving from the parent community. As the year progress, we have been slowly integrating all the capabilities this program provides us with.
The next step of integration is we now exclusively use PickUp Patrol for recording your child's absences. Please click here to review how to use the program to record absences.
The absence line which was previously used to record absences has now been disconnected.
Our secretaries and nurse are no longer checking phone messages for absences.
This information is now handled exclusively through the PickUp Patrol app. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to integrate this new attendance management system.
All of our parents and guardians should have received a "Welcome" email with details on how to download the app and set up your account. If you have not received an email, please check your SPAM folder. If you can not find the Welcome email, please contact our school secretaries and ask for a new one to be resent.
If you have not downloaded the app or set up your account yet, please do so as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the secretaries, Mrs. Deanna Dargel or Mrs. Boomi Varathrajan.
