January 13th - Today is the deadline to get your address updated in our computer information system to ensure your 8th grader is zoned to the correct High School.

January 30th through February 10th Transfer application window. This has to be completed on line through https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HS24. Any late forms will not be considered.

January 31st @ 9am - High Schools will come to MVLA to pre-register 8th graders. Please make sure kiddos are here ON Time.

January 31st - Deadline for any new student applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered and anyone turning in applications after this date will automatically go on our waiting list.

February 10th - Date by which new students will receive their acceptance notifications.

February 11th - Lego Robotics group heads to State in Albuquerque!!

We are happy to announce a brand new after school program this semester. We will be offering a conversational Spanish class taught by Mrs. Monroe! As always, we also have Guardians of the Biosphere as well. Please sign up soon so we can get these wonderful programs rolling!

• As we continue this wonderful journey of raising teens, we find ourselves continuing to fight the battle of Social Media. Please be very aware of what your kiddos are posting online and know I'm doing as much as I can here as well. I cannot monitor all of it, but I am working hard to help curb the nonsense as best I can.
• Please report anything you become aware of so that I can address it as quickly as possible.

Our Next PTO Meeting is February 16th (Tentatively)

Below is the schedule for the District Advisory Council Meetings.

Students are only allowed to use their cell phones before school, at lunch and after school. If you need to speak to your child or get a message to your child during the day, please call the front office at 527-6059 and we will get the message to your student.

If your child does not feel well, please tell them they need to come see the nurse and she will contact you if they need to be picked up. Students should not be calling or texting parents during the day unless it is from the office with an adult present.

Cell phones can be a huge distraction at school and we need your help to address this very real problem.

For this year's parent newsletters, my goal will be to have one go out at the beginning of each month. If I need to add information to it during the month, I will do so and send out the same newsletter with the updates.

Mesilla Valley Leadership Academy is a 6-8 school of choice here in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Started by Dr. Toni Hull, we are a RCA inspired project-based school. We have five houses who all compete to win the coveted Title of Champions each year.
