Rio Hondo ISD recently surveyed TEACHERS, STUDENTS, and PARENTS. We didn't have too much participation but in any case we still wanted to show you some of the results. Although surveys can be tricky and they don't always give us the results we want to see, it is important that we use surveys as reflective tools. Sometimes the data is hard to digest but bottom-line, numbers never lie... so let's use the data to get better.

There is one thing that we want to reiterate regarding campus culture and climate. The energy and work ethic that you bring daily will impact our campus culture and climate. It does not rest solely on one individual but rather on everyone.

Teachers

• 100% of RHHS TEACHERS feel this school communicates with parents on a timely and ongoing basis.
• 100% of RHHS TEACHERS feel comfortable discussing feelings, worries, and frustrations with supervisor.
• 100% of RHHS TEACHERS feel they can manage almost any student behavior problem.
• 100% of RHHS TEACHERS feel this school has a written plan that describes procedures to be performed in shootings.
• 100% of RHHS TEACHERS feel this school or school district provides effective training in safety procedures to staff (e.g., lockdown training or fire drills).
• 100% of RHHS TEACHERS feel that it is a part of their job to prepare students to succeed in college.

Students

• 92% of RHHS STUDENTS feel teachers provide feedback that helps students learn.
• 95% of RHHS STUDENTS feel that when they need/ask for extra help, teachers are good at providing.
• 90% of RHHS STUDENTS feel students behave well in classes.
• 95% of RHHS STUDENTS feel they participate in their classes.
• 95% of RHHS STUDENTS feel they will graduate from high school and 72% feel they will attend a college/university.

Parents

• 77% of RHHS PARENTS feel this school notifies parents or guardians effectively in the case of a school-wide emergency.
• 77% of RHHS PARENTS feel this school does not have a problem with student alcohol use.
• 66% of RHHS PARENTS feel this school takes effective measures to ensure the safety of students.
• 99% of RHHS PARENTS feel attending school every day is important for my child to do well in his/her classes.
• 88% of RHHS PARENTS are aware that Rio Hondo High School is now a P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School), and I am informed as to what this means in terms of college and career opportunities for my child.

• 48% of RHHS TEACHERS feel teaching is hindered by inadequate or outdated equipment or facilities at this school.
• 68% of RHHS TEACHERS feel school rules are applied equally to all students.
• 68% of RHHS TEACHERS feel discipline is fair.
• 57% of RHHS TEACHERS feel dress code violations are addressed equitably/fairly amongst all students.

Students

• 29% of RHHS STUDENTS feel at this school, students talk about the importance of understanding their own feelings and the feelings of others.
• 39% of RHHS STUDENTS feel students at this school try to stop bullying.
• 34% of RHHS STUDENTS feel dress code violations are addressed equitably/fairly amongst all students.
• 45% of RHHS STUDENTS feel someone has explained college financial aid to me.
• 45% of RHHS STUDENTS feel someone has explained the college application process to me.

Parents

• 33% of RHHS PARENTS feel this school helps parents figure out what social and emotional skills my child needs to develop (e.g., self-control, problem-solving, or getting along with others).
