Principal's Message
Dear Eccles Families and Caregivers,
Our school theme, “Joyful engagement in learning and community,” is connected to our district theme of “Dream and Do”. We live into these themes all year long! Our school goals are aligned with our district goals and our elementary peers across the district.
#1 Eccles will increase all students’ sense of belonging by prioritizing positive school culture and climate.
#2 Eccles will increase all student’s literacy proficiency through the use of WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading) strategies.
#3 Eccles will strengthen community and family partnerships through aligned communication processes and increased 2-way communication.
I always appreciate the ways our PTA supports our students and school. I also appreciate the opportunity to talk a little bit about our school goals at our monthly PTA meetings. We will meet again on Wednesday, December 13 at 7:00 pm in the Eccles Library. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Kelly

Attendance Update
As we approach the end of 2023, I want to thank you for your continued support. Our average daily attendance for the month November was 94%, just down from 96% in September, and 95% in October. We know that healthy routines, especially during the holiday season, are really important for students to keep up their attendance. Keep up the good work!
Winter Weather Prep
As the temperatures get colder, it’s time to start preparing for winter weather! If the weather is severe enough to cancel school, the first day of inclement weather will be a snow day for all! Any inclement weather day thereafter will be an online learning day. Elementary school families, this means you may see iPads come home with your students if questionable weather is forecasted.
In the event of an online learning day, Canby High School will begin at 8:40 a.m. and all other schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students should watch for Zoom links from their teachers. If students have trouble connecting or need help, they should reach out to their teacher. Canby School District strives to make the most of this valuable educational time, but please know that students will not be penalized if they are unable to connect.
To make sure you’re set to receive information about school delays, or closures, and online learning days, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.

Hello from the Eccles Library!
Students have been coming to the Library and checking out books weekly since September. Depending on a student’s grade level, they can check out a different number of books.
Kindergarten and 1st grade check out 1 book each week.
2nd and 3rd grade may check out 2 books each week.
Students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades have the option to check out
up to 3 books at a time for a period of two weeks.
All students may renew their library book(s) if:
they want more time to read them
no one has that book on hold
Overdue and/or Lost Books
With all these books out and about, it’s no surprise that some books are overdue. There are probably some lost or injured books out there somewhere, too!
Starting December 1st, reminder emails will be sent weekly to families of students who have overdue and/or lost books from prior years. There is no charge for a late/overdue book. However, if a book has been marked lost because it was never returned, then a replacement fee is charged to the student’s account. The reminder email will list the cost to replace the book.
A lost book fee can be paid by sending in a check made out to Eccles Elementary with ‘lost book’ on the memo line.
You can also pay online!
Head to ParentVUE
Go to your child’s student profile.
Click “FEES”
Look for “Outstanding Payment Needed”
Follow the prompts to pay online.
