St. Cecilia School Summer Notes
August 9, 2022
Living and Sharing our Mission - Cardinals in the Community
- To teach and live the Catholic faith with a nurturing, family-like community.
- Teach respect for all.
- Foster each student's academic potential.
Our students live and share the mission both in the classroom and out in our communities. See this week's "Cardinals in the Community" who are living the mission this summer. If you have examples of how our students are displaying the mission and sharing their faith with others, please send this information to Mrs. Pick (jpick@stcecilia.net).
Future St. Cecilia Learners
Mae and Calvin (Class of ‘31) were featured in Duchesne Today (Spring 2022). They had a strong start in Duchesne’s preschool that includes a rich STEAM program. We are excited to welcome them both to Kindergarten this fall.
Comedy & Cuisine 2023
Comedy & Cuisine is our annual school fundraiser that takes place on April 15 this year. It is the 25th anniversary of Comedy & Cuisine and this means lots of fun with planning. We are thankful for the chairs who put in hours of work to make this fundraiser such a success that sends 100% of the proceeds to the school:
2022 Chairs: Eric and Molly Neuman, Maura and Joe Neideree, Candice and Trevor Towey
2023 Chairs: Danielle and Chris Lyons, Heather Gomes and Mac McLaughlin, Shannon and Tony Vaccaro
2024 Chairs: John and Maria Anderson, Josh and Molly Humpal, Susie and Peter Walsh
Congrats Lola-Belle!
We are so proud of Lola-Belle (‘19)! She is one of the Varsity Cheer Captains at Roncalli Catholic this school year. It comes as no surprise to us as she was always so involved at St. Cecilia and volunteered so much time to our community.
What Do We Need from YOU?
1. Family Handbook & Student Device & Technology Acceptable Use Policy (attached below)
These two documents contain the fine details of our school, our mission, and how they align with all of the human parts of the world (discipline, uniform policy, attendance, device usage, etc.). Please read both of these as you'll be required to provide a signature at Meet the Teacher Night that indicates you have read these two items.
2. Tuition Contracts
We are thankful for everyone's patience and grace as we worked our way through the new tuition management program, Blackbaud, last Spring. Please be sure you are logging in to sign your tuition contract for the 22-23 school year. The tuition payments are set up through Blackbaud in a format that works best for your family (you would have chosen your payment option in the Spring). Check your email each month to be sure the tuition payments are coming out.
3. School Supply Lists
These lists can be found both on the website and attached here. Please bring these your child's school supplies to Meet the Teacher Night and then the first day of school can be less hectic for everyone!
4. Health Update Forms
Each student must have an updated health form on file in the school office. These will be provided at Meet the Teacher Night but one is also attached to this newsletter if you wanted to print and fill out in advance.
5. Medications
If your child needs to receive/take any medications at school, there needs to be a plan in place in the school office. This includes Tylenol or Ibuprofen for headaches, inhalers for asthma, creams for skin conditions, etc. We discarded all medications this summer that were in the school office so we do not have any on hand for students. You will need to complete the medication and/or asthma plan and provide the medication to the school office.
6. Lunch
A reminder that all families will need to pay for Westside (hot) lunches this year. If your family would like to apply for free or reduced lunch for the 22-23 school year, please see the letter and application that are below. These will also be available at Meet the Teacher Night, on the website, and from our cafeteria manager.
It is recommended to keep at least $20 in your family's lunch account throughout the year. You can bring this money (check or cash) in on Meet the Teacher Night or on the first day of school.
Spirit Wear Sale!
All families at St. Cecilia Cathedral are required to complete at least 15 hours of service to school or parish. Whether you receive in- or out-of-parish tuition, we rely on all of our families to complete these hours to keep tuition and other costs low throughout the year.
Every teacher, coach, assistant coach, and volunteer who has direct contact with any grade school children are required to complete Safe Environment training through the Archdiocese of Omaha. Summer is the perfect time to get your training and background check completed so you are all ready for August. Remember Safe Environment (SE) training is valid for six (6) years. If you are thinking of being a soccer coach, room parent, or volunteering at Cathedralfest, please sign up to complete your SE training before the school year gets busy!
