CURRICULUM CORNER-APRIL 2023
Students are taking part in dynamic learning experiences, as usual, here at South.
Our Indian Tribe Juniors have buckled down and put on their best academic hat this month while taking the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment. We are proud of their effort and commitment to this process.
Ms. Murray provided Marketing students with the opportunity to work collaboratively on a creative project. Students were asked to design and create their own minor league baseball team and stadium using knowledge on demographics, logos, color schemes, pricing structure, promotions and advertising. The skills students gain through the exploration of this kind of activity help students practice career soft skills like teamwork, leadership, and creativity.
Our physical education unit this month is country line dancing, y’all! Kudos to Mr. Petersen, Mr. Malek, and Mr. Madigan for their enthusiasm and leadership in the cowboy boogie!
Students watched The Breakfast Club in Ms. Adelizzi’s Human Growth class. This timeless depiction of groups of high school students and the characters were the foundation for thought provoking discussions about who students relate to, who they would befriend, which character changed the most, which struggled the most, etc. Our students have important insight.
Teachers continue to take part in monthly professional development discussing timely and important topics each time. This time together has been productive and valuable.
Spring is here! We hope everyone has a restful, rejuvenating and well-deserved Spring Break! Time has flown by.
We are so grateful to be a part of each students’ journey and to continue to share our amazing experiences at South!
