VIRTUAL PARENTS' NIGHT
VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE -- DECEMBER 10, 2020 -- 7:00 PM
All David Prouty High School families are invited to an Open House event on Thursday evening, December 10. You will have the opportunity to meet each of your student's teachers and to learn about the classes your student is taking this semester. Teachers will be sharing their contact information to set up individual conferences, as well.
To prepare, parents and guardians should be ready with the subject and name of the teacher for each of their student’s five classes, which are identified with the letters A-E. This information is available from your son or daughter, in Schoology, or by contacting your child’s guidance counselor: Mrs. Kinnas (sara.kinnas@sebrsd.org) for students’ last names A-L, or Mrs. Paradis (paradisc@sebrsd.org) for students’ last names M-Z.
MCAS for the Class of 2022
Our current Juniors did not get the opportunity to earn their Competency Determination on the ELA and Mathematics MCAS this past spring, due to statewide school closures for COVID-19.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has announced that students in grades eleven will take the ELA and Mathematics MCAS in January of 2021. We will offer ELA and Mathematics testing dates between January 14 and January 28.
Students will be scheduled to come into school for testing in small groups, even if they are fully remote. All social distancing and sanitization guidelines will be followed. Testing will be done online, via the school’s desktop computers. If you have a student in grade eleven, please expect to hear from us with testing appointment dates by early December.
All David Prouty High School students are enrolled in full-year English and mathematics classes this year. Junior classes will devote at time to MCAS review when we return from vacation in January. DESE has also made review materials available at the link below.
PRINCIPALS' OFFICE HOURS FOR PARENTS
Office hours are planned for December 3 at 7 PM.
Topics will include: In-person Learning, Student Feedback Groups, Know Your School Night, and your questions.
We welcome your feedback at any time. No question is too small.
Free Meals for All Students Until June!!!
All meals served by the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District (SEBRSD) will be free of charge until the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Families of children 0-18 years of age are eligible for the service -- no questions asked. High school students who are over 18 are also eligible.
We will have free meals here at school for all in-person students, every day. Please let us know if your student needs vegetarian, gluten-free, or dairy-free meals.
Knox Trail Middle School (73 Ash St in Spencer) will provide bulk free meals, ready for pick up between the hours of 9am-1pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.
You may fill out a google form to order meals, but walk-ins are also welcome. Vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free meals are available.

SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR IN-PERSON LEARNING AT PROUTY
**PLEASE STAY HOME AND LEARN REMOTELY IF YOU FEEL SICK, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE COUGHING, SNEEZING, SORE THROAT, A FEVER, OR A RUNNY NOSE. IF YOU COME TO SCHOOL WITH THOSE SYMPTOMS, WE WILL HAVE TO SEND YOU HOME.**
--Please keep your mask over your mouth AND your nose unless you have a teacher's permission to remove it for a mask break or to eat. Practice wearing a mask now. When you find a mask you can tolerate, get more of that kind. Only surgical-style face masks are allowed. No bandannas, ski masks, or gaiters.
--Please stay six feet behind the person ahead of you when you are walking or waiting in line. If the line stops, please stop, leaving that six foot space.
--Please bring a water bottle. Bottle filling stations are open, but bubblers are closed.
--Please know that we will strictly enforce all safety precautions. If we are to remain open, we as a school MUST prevent the spread not only of COVID-19, but also of the seasonal influenza virus. We must all prioritize the health and safety of the most vulnerable members of our community.
SCHOOLOGY FOR PARENTS
Your parent account will allow you to view your student's classes and groups, without any danger of changing or breaking anything! As always, please email or call with ANY questions!!!
