Spring Street School
September 1, 2023
WELCOME!
We welcome you and your children to the Spring Street School. We are looking forward to a wonderful start to the school year and are excited to meet the preschool and kindergarten students and families. Strong communication between school and home is an important part of student success. This monthly newsletter is one way we communicate what is happening in the school. I welcome you to contact me with any concerns or questions during the year that your student's teacher cannot answer.
Have a wonderful school year!

STAYING IN TOUCH
Please feel free to contact teachers and staff by email. Email addresses can be found on our website.
DISMISSAL CHANGES/ABSENCE
If making any changes to your child’s usual dismissal, or to report an absence please call/email BOTH the classroom teacher and Mrs. Ellis. Mrs. Ellis can be reached at mellis@wbridgewater.com or by phone at 508-894-1233. This ensures everyone is aware of the change. It is also helpful to inform us of these changes before 2:00 as the office is a very busy place after that time. If notification is not received for an absence, a home phone call will be made to ensure the students safety.
EARLY RELEASE SEPTEMBER 27th
Our early dismissal time is 11:30 for bus and 11:40 for parent pickup. No lunch will be served and there will be no afternoon preschool.
OCTOBER 9th - Columbus Day- NO SCHOOL
CURRICULUM NIGHT OCTOBER 12, 2023
What will my child be learning about this year? What does a typical day look like? These are some of the questions that will be answered at curriculum night. Parents and guardians (not students) are invited to attend this event. Important topics of curriculum and expectations for the year will be addressed. The schedule for the evening is as follows:
6:00-6:30 Pre-K- Please enter through the Spring Street School Entrance and head directly to the classroom.
6:30-7:00 Kindergarten- Please enter through the Spring Street School Entrance and head directly to the classrooms
LIFETOUCH PICTURE DAY - OCTOBER 3rd & 4th
Please check your students backpack or with the teacher for more information
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Please consider being part of the continuous effort to improve our school. Community input is needed in determining the direction of education for our young people. We are in need of parent volunteers for our Spring Street School Council this year. If you have a child at the school and would like to serve as a representative on the council, please contact us. Meetings generally last an hour or less and take place after school. It is a good way to be involved in the improvement of our school.
Registration Requirement for all families
New this year, we will be requiring all families to log into their Aspen accounts to review your child's data, and sign off on our annual policies. Below are the instructions on how to complete the Return to School Workflow.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1_AtrvJTZ4f55M2KKi3_IBDPdaKF-mWS7xiLHdforXbs/edit?usp=sharing
PLEASE DO NOT INITIATE A NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION. This is only for new students, not current students. Only select "Start a New Returning Student Registration". If you are a new family, or have previously registered a student, you may also go in and review the data and sign off on our policies.
If you have any issues logging in, or have questions about this new process, please email jcollins@wbridgewater.com. This is new for all of us this year, so we hope to make this as seamless as possible for all families.
Message from Nurse Mando
It’s so wonderful to have the kids back in school. Thank you to everyone who has been sending in updated physicals. I will be sending out a letter by the end of this month if there is any missing documentation that I still need for your child. Please continue to monitor for sicknesses before your child comes to school in the morning and always feel free to reach out to me at any time by email or phone if you have any questions or concerns. smand@wbridgewater.com/ 508-894-1233 EXT 2122. All meals are FREE but if you feel that your family is income eligible, please fill out the Household application that was sent home as you may qualify for additional benefits. Applications can be turned in to school- all information is kept strictly confidential.
Please click the Food Services page for the monthly lunch menu. Any students without a snack or lunch from home will be offered a school meal!
Lunch will be served in the cafeteria where the students will eat. This is a great opportunity to familiarize students with how lunch is served in 1st grade. Students will make their own beverage selection as they enter the line. Ms. January, Ms. Karen, and Ms. Becky are so excited to see the children!
If you have any questions please reached out to me by email at agrinder@wbridgewater.com or by phone at (508)894-1220 ext. 1320.
