EAS Hangouts and Power Hours

Elementary Academic Services is offering optional learning opportunities throughout July. Each session is one hour and registration is open in Power Schools. Search for EAS July Hangouts and Power Hours then register for the sessions you want to attend. Session links will be sent to you in your confirmation email.

Content Hangouts are designed to provide a space for teachers to connect and talk about content. Sessions will be facilitated by content coordinators but topics will be led by participants. (1hour)

Power Hours are one hour sessions facilitated by content coordinators and designed around a single topic with time built in for Q & A. Power Hour sessions will be recorded and made available as requested.

Navigating Literacy

This session will review the 20-21 Unit Plans for clarity in understanding the "WHY" behind the revisions, the critical components of a balanced literacy block/classroom, how to navigate the new resources, and how this translates to instructional practices to increase student achievement.

Virtual Mathematics Manipulatives

Manipulatives are critical for students to build conceptual understanding in mathematics. We will share the virtual manipulatives that have been linked and aligned in our curriculum documents. We will explore how to leverage these virtual manipulatives in the traditional face to face instruction as well as virtual instruction.

Streamlined Social Studies TEKS Impacts

This session will review the impact of the streamline TEKS and the approach we are taking to ensure implementation. We will look at various examples of these impacts from Summer 2020 Curriculum Writing. We'll host a Q&A and give resources.

It is an easy to design structure and easy to implement in remote or face to face learning environments. Drop in to talk about ways to use them and design them for the 20-21 school year.
