Buchanan High School Graduation

At the senior banquet on Thursday this week, each graduate will be given four numbered passes for seating at the event in case we have to be inside due to inclement weather. Bleacher seating is available on the home side and no passes are required for those seats. If we must move indoors because of inclement weather, due to space limitations, only those guests with tickets will be permitted indoors to watch the event.

The ceremony will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend. A link is provided at the bottom of this newsletter. Please check it out and sign the guestbook to leave a message to the Class of 2021.

Graduates will report to the high school aux gym at 5:30 to get pictures taken and line up. Mrs. Hess, and Mrs. Neal will be on site to help graduates get in alphabetical order and to be sure all caps are appropriate for the occasion. Graduates will then be led by staff escorts to the stadium.

Students will follow the staff directions when walking to the stage to receive their diplomas. Mrs. Hess will direct graduates one at a time to the stage. Graduates will then walk up to the stage to receive their diploma from Dr. Burnett, the School Board President. No handshakes will be given.

A photographer will be next to the stage to take a picture of you with your diploma. Photos will be available for purchase. All graduates will have received order information at the senior dinner.

When the ceremony is over, Mrs. DeMaio will dismiss the Class of 2021. Graduates, you are free to celebrate by throwing your cap if you wish.

The school will not be open for pictures afterwards, but feel free to take pictures on campus outside.

Open seating is available in the home bleachers to everyone who wishes to watch the ceremony in-person. Guests should arrive no earlier than 3:00 after school dismisses for the day. Bleacher seating and hill seating are available on a first come, first served basis. The senior video will be displayed as guests are being seated.

Please check it out and encourage others to sign the guestbook and leave a message to the Class of 2021. The ceremony can also be seen on the school website.

This is a school-sponsored event so all school rules must be followed (i.e. no smoking, no vaping, no alcohol) on school grounds.

If we need to move our event indoors due to rain or high winds, only those participants with numbered tickets will be admitted into the competition gym. Seating is limited indoors. We apologize for not being able to accommodate everyone for an indoor event. Those guests with a ticket may sit anywhere they wish in the bleachers on either side of the gym floor. Only graduates and school faculty will be seated on the gym floor. Masks will be required indoors. No other dates will be reserved for this event. An instant alert will be sent to families the day of if a change in venue is needed.
