Mrs. Bruce is looking for volunteers, with building experience, who would be willing to help build sets for this year's 3/4 musical, James and the Giant Peach. We are also looking for donations of materials (lumber, hardware, paint, etc) to help build the set. Please contact her if interested at cbruce@rnesu.org. Thank you!
What's going on in Music?
Kindergarten-Kindergarteners have been learning all about the routine of music class. In each music class, we sing the welcome song, color song and "I love Kindergarten." We also enjoy playing freeze dance and dancing with scarves. So far, we have tried playing the xylophone, piano, drums and ukulele!
First and Second Grade-First and second graders have been working on the song "I'm Here" in music class. We are also working on learning expectations with the "Riser Song." Perhaps you've heard it! We've been using movement and scarves with the fall song "Blowing in the Wind." We have enjoyed playing "Pass the Pumpkin!"
Third and Fourth Grade-Third and fourth graders have begun preparing for our big musical in April, "James and the Giant Peach." We are learning all about the characters of the story. Fourth grade has already finished the book! We've begun learning the first song "Right Before Your Eyes," which students will sing if they would like to audition for a part (more info on that to come). We've also been playing some collaborative games, including "Sally Go Round the Sun" and "Obwisana."
Fifth and Sixth Grade--Fifth and Sixth graders are learning all about how music can unite and connect us. Students were asked to interview someone special to them, asking them about their favorite song. We then created Flipgrids to share what we learned in our interviews. Next week, we are going to listen to some of the music we learned about and start reflecting on our personal music preferences.
