Community Newsletter: Making this our #BestYearYet 12.17
#TheEndOf2017
I can't believe it! The end of 2017 is upon us! We have four elite days of instruction to go! It is going to be a fast and busy week as we finish out the year.
I am thankful to be the #ProudPrincipal of Bryan County Middle School and I am looking forward to our second semester as we continue to work relentlessly to grow scholars!
Some scholars may have a schedule change on the first day we return from break. Monday January 8th begins a new semester and a new quarter. The scholars who do have a new schedule will have one waiting for them in homeroom. We will also be working on allowing schedule changes during the first five days of the semester.
Please make sure that you are signed up for my REMIND, as well as the grade level REMINDS so you don't miss a beat! I have found some glitches with the REMIND and some parents have signed up for the one I use for teachers and staff. I have removed you from that REMIND, so please make sure you are still linked in to the one that is called BCMS Community. The link is at the bottom of this newsletter.
The next #BeBCMS Community Newsletter will be out on January 7th 2018! It will be the first edition of 2018! I can't wait!

Using MAP data to goal CRUSH!
Winter Map Testing Window: November 29th - December 20th
We are almost wrapped up with MAP testing.
We have completed the regular winter testing as well as the short form testing. Remember, we are meeting with scholars to review data points and explain to our scholars what the data means and what the data tells us. The form we are using is in the notes below.
We will finish up meeting with every scholar as soon as we return from winter break!
Notes from Ms. Raeburn
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the families and community for your support of Bryan County Middle School. A new principal brings uncertainty and some changes, and definitely I am not perfect, but I have honestly loved every single second of serving as your child's principal!
I can promise you that when learning resumes in January, we will continue our focus on building relationships with our scholars to grow them! We will launch our School Wide Kindness Project, created by my Principal's Advisory Council. We will also be looking at the data and making some decisions regarding WIN. Clubs will be continuing and they have been a huge hit with the scholars and our staff!
The staff is going to identify "ONE WORD" that will drive the work they do in 2018. My one word for 2017 was "Serve" and my one word for 2018 is "Moments". It is my continuous focus to create peak moments that will inspire, grow, and ExExExCite our schoolhouse.
Pleas enjoy this time with friends and family! The only homework over this break is to do some reading! A book, an article, a magazine...anything! Spend some time with some good words! You won't be disappointed! THANK you for all you do!
Other notes:
As we prepare to finish the semester, I am ExExExCited to roll out our Community "You Make A Difference" form! If there is a grown-up at BCMS who has made a significant difference in your child's life and/or middle school experience, I want to know about it! Pleae take a few minutes to share that on the form. All of our staff who are nominated will be recognized at our end of the semester breakfast!
We truly have ELITE teachers at BCMS! There is no profession like teaching! The impact, influence, and change that we have in the schoolhouse and classrooms everyday is life changing! I am proud to work along side such dynamic and dedicated professionals who truly are here to grow scholars!
The form is below! Please take a minute to fill it out and recognize an adult who has positively impacted your child!
As a reminder, we will be meeting with all scholars to talk about data points. If your child does not get a form before break, he/she will get one the first week back. The form is linked below.

Progress Monitoring for WIN is happening this week: T/W/TH
I am very excited to see our growth!
