Principal's Message: Mask Guidelines Update
Hello Hawks families,
March madness is underway! March is going to be a busy month at CPHS as we start to embark on the process of future scheduling and getting students signed up for next year's classes. We also have Spring sports that have just started up, and some activities and events along the way like our Sadie Hawkins dance and spirit week. We have senior cap and gown photo make-ups and our traditional school-wide stadium photo happening on Monday, March 7th.
We also celebrate our amazing classified staff with a March 7-11 Classified Appreciation Week! We are so thankful to have such amazing people as part of our Hawks community!
March 11th is also an important day for us in schools as the mandate for required mask wearing, will be lifted. For so many this is a huge step in continuing to return to a "normalized" post COVID world, while for others it comes with trepidation and concern. Our students and staff are great and will continue to show and model kindness for all, regardless if students and staff choose to wear, or choose to not wear, the masks moving forward. You should notice around our campus after March 11th that the signage will change, from "required masks" to "optional masks" as the guidelines shift. We will continue through the school year to offer the disposable masks to any students who wish to continue to use them.
I hope to see you out at our spring athletic contests! As the weather warms and the sunshine returns, our spring contests will be a fun and great way to rally our community and move us forward! Go Hawks!

Future Scheduling for the 2022-2023 School Year
On Tuesday, March 8 during Hawk Time, we will be launching our Future Scheduling window with students by having them watch the below Future Scheduling video, and by distributing the 2022-2023 Course Catalog and their student transcripts and grad check forms.

Please feel free to reach out to teachers if you have questions about specific courses. The course catalog linked above includes the teacher of the course for next year.
We have a new 3rd year Math course called "Applied Algebra II" which is more application based math course designed for students whose high school and beyond plan lean towards the trades, work force, and none 4 year traditional college.
We also are revamping our senior Studio 57 capstone course to include a new Studio 57 Seminar pre-requisite course. This is a really cool unique course sequence that College Place High School offers for 9-11 grade students who are particularly interested in business and entrepreneurialism. This sets them up to be able to take Studio 57 Capstone as a senior and begin to use those skills learned from Seminar to launch into a deeper project creation.
We also have a Parent Evening Event lined up for those wanting to join us via zoom to hear more about Future Scheduling, ask questions, and/or hear from guest representatives from SeaTech and WWCC's Running start programs.

March 7: Senior Cap & Gown Photos (Make-Up) and the School-Wide Hawks Photo
Congratulations to our "Five Star Hawks" Recipients!
Nicole Meza Rodriguez and Brooke Foertsch They are polite and respectful students who take academics seriously and also make excellent use of their free time.
Makaylee Smith - Kaylee is kind, patient, helpful, and honest. She is reliable for her teachers and her classmates. She also believes in the integrity of her school experience, which shows through her hard work and genuine enjoyment of what we do in class.
Aiden Potts- Aiden is constantly going out of his way to help his peers achieve their class work. He has a strong moral compass. It allows him to break down "walls" with peers that are struggling with their work and then help. When he finished his class work 2 weeks early his first question was "What can I do to help you Mr. Bouvier?". Very impressed with this young man!
Way to go Hawks!
