Honor Band and Select students

Report to BBJH at 7:20 AM to load the bus.

Once your audition is complete

your parent may sign you out at Schindewolf Int. If you are to ride with someone else you must turn a note in by Friday, Oct.20th.

Tubas and Euphoniums will not audition until after lunch. You are welcome to ride the bus with us at 7:20 or your parents can bring you to Schindewolf Intermediate before noon. If you choose to meet us there be sure you make arrangements to get your good instrument to the audition. If you plan to meet us there I need to know by Friday.

The bus will return to BBJH late afternoon.

Bring

• $ for concession or sack lunch

• Instrument

• Water Bottle

• Pencil

• Homework or game

Wear

comfortable clothing but nothing that identifies you as BBJH or Magnolia ISD.

• Be respectful

• Play instrument in audition room only

• Follow their rules

In preparation for our upcoming performances we will be practicing Thursday mornings at 6:40. This is the only time we will have for all of our classes to practice together. Please make every effort to be here. If you are a bus rider simply join us when your bus arrives. (Honor, Symphonic, Concert, and Cadet band members.)

THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE TO OUR RETURN TIME. WE WILL NOT RETURN UNTIL 9:00 PM.

The students will have some homework time before we leave.

Band Performance

BBJH vs. MJH AT MHS October 25th

8th grade Football players will be a football player first,

then a band member.

• Wear BBJH Band t-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes w/socks. NO sandals or flip-flops. (Bring jacket if cooler weather comes in.)

• Bring music, flip folders, lyre, and hand towel to place instrument on in stands

• All students must be academically eligible

• Conduct yourself in a manner that positively reflects our band and BBJH

• No food or drinks in the stands other than the provided water.

• No one is allowed in the stands with the band students that is not a part of the band or chaperone.

• No electronics-with the exception of cell phones (for emergencies) are allowed in the stands

• Be respectful.

2:45 Report to the cafeteria

Do Homework

Eat a light Dinner that is provided by booster club.

3:45 load bus

4:45 Arrive at MHS perform for games.

YOU MAY SIGN YOUR CHILD OUT 8:00-8:15 at MHS

Or pick your child up at 9:00 PM in the back of BBJH.

This is a CHANGE at 9:00 PM

One great way to help as a parent with contest season, is to ask your child to play for you. Even playing in front of brothers and sisters help with nerves when it comes to participating at a competition. But please do not let your child practice any longer than normal the night before a contest. Encouraging words are the best thing a child can hear the night before a contest.

Also, please treat contests just like a normal “STAAR” bedtime routine. Your child has worked for weeks to prepare music. Don’t let them stay up past a normal bed time or be out late with a friend. We all want your child in his/her top condition for contest. Make sure they eat a filling dinner and something substantial for breakfast. Nervous kids do not need extra sugar in their systems.

If you see a BBJH band kiddo, wish them luck if they are participating at contest this October.

Charms Recording Instructions

Steps:

1. Download the Charms Blue app or open charmsoffice.com

2. Login to your student account

1. School Code= bearbranchband

2. Password= Your ID number

3. If your MISD ID is 6 digits in length...you need not read any further. You are done.

4. If your MISD ID is 5 digits in length...your ID has an added 0 (zero) in front of your ID...(0XXXXX).

5. If your MISD ID is 4 digits in length...your ID has two added 0's (zero's) in front of your ID...(00XXXX)

F )You can change your password but do not have to

1. Tap on the menu button at the top right and then the Recording Studio link or on the website, click on the home button and then the Recording Studio icon

2. Tap/click on the Assignments link at the bottom of the app or the top right of the website to view your assignments

3. Tap/click on the Assignment you wish to record

4. Tap/click on the Red Dot to record (Turn on the metronome in the website or your own)

5. After you are happy with your recording, tap/click the check mark to submit

1. (Do NOT rename the assignment)

6. If you want to recording scales that are not currently assigned, you may also create recordings and submit them. Please make sure you label the recording clearly.
