free curbside meals for community children
USDA/TDA has recently announced flexibilities that allow us to feed children in our community at no charge. Children do not have to be enrolled in Alief schools to participate.
Beginning the evening of Wednesday, 9/9/20:
- Who:
- Children ages 18 years and younger and
- Any person who continues to be enrolled in school and is identified as mentally or physically disabled through a special education program or the 29 U.S.C § 70, Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973. If this is the case, the person is eligible through age 21.
- When: Monday - Friday (no service when school is not in session) from 4-7 p.m. NEW extended hours
- What: Breakfast and lunch curbside meals (drive through, walk up)
- Where: 38 curbside locations (All ES/IS/MS and Elsik and Taylor HSs)
- If children are not present, parent/guardian must present one of the following forms of identification:
- Student report card
- Attendance record from parent portal of school website
- Birth certificate
- Official letter/email from facility or school listing children enrolled
- Official ID (issued by a school or daycare)
- If the child is present, no additional identification is needed
- For safety purposes, please wear a mask, maintain 6' social distancing and stay in your car (if driving through).
