COLD WEATHER
As the weather changes, please be sure that your child wears appropriate clothing for the changing temperatures. We go outside for recess if the temperature is above zero degrees with the windchill. Physical education classes are often outside and teachers take students outside throughout the day.
School Pictures
- Please check your child’s backpack for school pictures coming home yesterday or today. If you are not pleased with the pictures you ordered, please save the entire packet to be returned on Picture Retake day, which is Friday, Dec. 8th.
- If you had not ordered already, please follow the instructions to place an order and the pictures will be delivered to the school.
Bus Driver Appreciation
Our students helped us celebrate our Davis and Richmond bus drivers and transportation staff by passing out a small token of appreciation to say thank you for getting them to and from school each day.
Trunk or Treat
Thank you to our PTO for putting on a fun Trunk or Treat event.
Enjoy some pictures from the event:

Costume & Party Guidelines: Students should bring costumes in a bag. Costumes must be appropriate for school. Costumes should not be violent or scary in nature. No blood, guts, or weapons. No masks. Make-up is discouraged because it is difficult to apply. No bare midriffs or scant clothing. Students may be asked to remove or put away any parts of costumes based on teacher judgment.
Room Parents who are assisting with the parties should not wear disguises that would make it difficult to recognize them as a safe person
Only Room Parents may attend the classroom parties and assist students
Room Parent Guidelines:
No more than 3 room parents per classroom may attend the party. (Others may assist outside of school with preparations or goody bags). Sign-up for Room Parents was completed through our PTO in September.
Lead Room Parent: Work with the classroom teacher & other room parents on activities/games for the party
Lead Room Parent: Coordinate with the teacher & other room parents on any non-edible goody bags to be sent home. No food treats will be eaten during the party or sent home.
Complete the D303 volunteer form for this school year 2023-2024. If you have never had your ID/drivers license scanned at the school, it is very helpful to have that done prior to the party. Stop by the office at your convenience.

News From the Nurse
HEARING and VISION screenings have started for this school year and we will be seeing students regularly throughout the year until all have been evaluated.
Adequate vision and hearing are paramount to educational performance. Impaired vision and/or hearing in children can seriously impede learning and contribute to the development of educational, emotional and behavioral problems. Early discovery and treatment can prevent or at least alleviate many of these problems.
- Kindergarten - all will be screened for Hearing. The students without the required vision exam will be screened for that.
- 1st grade - Hearing only
- 2nd grade - all students for Hearing and Vision and Color Vision
- All new students (new to district and new to Illinois) will be screened for Hearing and Vision
- Students with IEPs and Special Education Services will be screened for Hearing and Vision annually.
Please make sure that if your child wears glasses they bring them to school each day!

Belonging Monthly Checks
Each month on or about the last attendance day of the month (For this month 10/30) we will give students a 4-5 question quick check on the topic of belonging through their Class Link app. Our goal of this survey is to provide/review data on how we are doing with our strategic priority of belonging.
