English for Careers at MiraCosta College
What Students Gain from Taking the VESL Class
Students gain the pronunciation, vocabulary, listening, reading, writing, and conversation skills you need to enter the career in which you have already earned a degree OR to enter an academic or vocational career and technical preparation program.
Study three days per week in the classroom (Monday - Wednesday). General employment topics include the following:
- Searching and applying for jobs, selling yourself
- Writing resumes and cover letters
- Succeeding in a job interview
- Communicating on the job: making small talk, giving and receiving criticism
- Soft skills, hard skills, having a good attitude and good relationships with coworkers
Study online three hours per week and prepare for a career by using state-of-the art software and our online course management system, Blackboard.

CLASS IS FREE
