“Rent Rewards” is back! Attendance is a critical factor in student learning success. We also know that almost 100% percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. With this data, our school community is grateful for the sponsors of “Rent Rewards”. Would you like your rent or a portion of your rent paid? Here’s how you can be a part of this program:
Opt-in to the program (flyers were re-sent home with students on January 18th)
Submit your current lease to our Parent Support Specialist (PSS), Ms. Victoria
Rent amount verified with housing management
Students with an attendance rate of 90% or higher will be a part of the monthly “Rent Rewards” drawing
Look Ahead:
Teachers will be contacting families soon about Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Date(s) will be coming soon for our new building discussion/community meeting

También sabemos que casi el 100% de nuestros estudiantes califican para recibir almuerzo gratis o a precio reducido. Con estos datos, nuestra comunidad escolar agradece a los patrocinadores de “Rent Rewards”. ¿Le gustaría que le paguen el alquiler o una parte del mismo? Así es como puedes ser parte de este programa:
- Inscríbase en el programa (los folletos se reenviaron a casa con los estudiantes el 18 de enero)

- Los estudiantes con una tasa de asistencia del 90% o más serán parte del sorteo mensual de "Recompensas de alquiler"

I cannot believe we are already halfway through January. If your student is needing a jacket or is missing their jacket please let me or the front office staff know. We will try our best to get your student a jacket or have them look in our lost and found area located on the stage in the cafeteria to see if they can find their missing jacket.
Registration 2024-2025
Enrollment for the new school year is open now!! Log into your portal and select the tile Enroll Austin (The tile with the picture of the Yellow Seat) If you need assistance we are here to help. Enrollment help will be available this week 01/22 and 01/23 at 8:30-10:30 AM and 1:00-2:00 PM in room 212. Enrollment window will be open until February 6th.
PTA Corner
PTA will be having their Valentine sales again! Valentine baskets, candy bags, and small gifts will be available for purchase. Prices range from $0.25-$15.00 Please check your child's backpack this week and keep a look out for the pre-order form. PTA will accept pre order forms and payments starting 01/24-02/05. Venmo and Cashapp are preferred, but cash is accepted as well. This is one of PTA’s biggest fundraisers. The funds that are raised from this event will help with end of the year festivities, graduation, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
No puedo creer que ya estemos a mitad de enero. Si su estudiante necesita una chaqueta o le falta una chaqueta, hágamelo saber a mí o al personal de la oficina principal. Inicie sesión en su portal y seleccione el mosaico Inscribir Austin (el mosaico con la imagen del asiento amarillo). Si necesita ayuda, estamos aquí para ayudarlo. La ayuda para la inscripción estará disponible esta semana el 22/01 y el 23/01 de 8:30 a 10:30 a. m. y de 1:00 a 2:00 p. m. en el salón 212. La ventana de inscripción estará abierta hasta el 6 de febrero.

¡La PTA volverá a tener sus ventas de San Valentín! Se podrán comprar cestas de San Valentín, bolsas de dulces y pequeños obsequios. Los precios oscilan entre $0.25 y $15.00. Por favor revise la mochila de su hijo esta semana y esté atento al formulario de pedido anticipado. La PTA aceptará formularios de pedidos anticipados y pagos a partir del 24 de enero al 2 de febrero de 2005. Se prefieren Venmo y Cashapp, pero también se acepta efectivo. Esta es una de las mayores recaudaciones de fondos de la PTA. Los fondos que se recauden de este evento ayudarán con las festividades de fin de año, la graduación y la Semana de Agradecimiento a los Maestros.

Executive Functions & Our Brain TIP #2!
** REMEMBER **
Executive function skills get processed in the area at the front of our brains called the prefrontal cortes. It does not stop growing until age 26! WOW! In order for our students to have these skills, we must model it and teach it to them. Executive functions are built by taking small, consistent, realistic steps that take you out of your comfort zone a little at a time.
Here's a quick tip for building flexibility, time management, and organization: Break down big tasks into smaller tasks. For example cleaning your room - start with the bed, your desk, or picking up things off the floor.
Executive functions are built by feeling accomplished when you do that thing you thought you couldn't handle or thought would be too overwhelming.
Funciones ejecutivas y nuestro cerebro ¡CONSEJO #2!

Las habilidades de las funciones ejecutivas se procesan en el área de la parte frontal de nuestro cerebro llamada corteza prefrontal. ¡No deja de crecer hasta los 26 años! ¡GUAU! Para que nuestros estudiantes tengan estas habilidades, debemos modelarlas y enseñárselas. Las funciones ejecutivas se construyen dando pasos pequeños, consistentes y realistas que lo saquen de su zona de confort poco a poco.
He aquí un consejo rápido para desarrollar flexibilidad, gestión del tiempo y organización: divida las tareas grandes en tareas más pequeñas. Por ejemplo, limpiar tu habitación: empieza por la cama, el escritorio o recoge cosas del suelo.
Las funciones ejecutivas se desarrollan al sentirse realizado cuando haces algo que pensabas que no podías manejar o que creías que sería demasiado abrumador.
Central Texas Food Bank - Social Services
The Central Texas Food Bank’s social services team is continuing to assist clients with applying for SNAP (along with Medicaid, TANF, Healthy Texas Women, Medicare Savings Program, CHIP and CHIP Perinatal). We offer help with applications remotely and on-site. Our offices are located at 6500 Metropolis Drive, Austin, Texas 78744.
For the safety of our staff and the community we serve, we have implemented social distancing models and can see a limited number of clients at one time on-site at the Food Bank. To get help with applications on-site, please call our hotline to make an appointment first at 855-366-3401.
