Texas Lesson Study
A Vetted Improvement Program (VIP)
Texas Lesson Study
Texas Lesson Study (TXLS) provides a research-based problem-solving approach to Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that fosters collaboration to develop collective efficacy amongst educational staff.
What is TXLS?
- TXLS is a proven process in which teachers drive improvements to teaching and learning through collaborative, action research.
- In Lesson Study, teachers engage in cycles of continuous improvement during PLC time. Together, groups of teachers examine a problem of practice, plan instructional solutions, teach, observe, reflect, and share the results of their work.
- The product of Lesson Study goes beyond perfecting a single lesson. Working together to plan, practice, and reflect, teachers develop a deep and lasting knowledge of content and pedagogy.
The Benefits of TXLS
Our Partners
Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are key partners in the Texas Lesson Study program. Region 5 Program Coordinators work closely with teacher teams and district/campus leadership to implement the TXLS process in regularly scheduled PLC meetings.
