Smiley Thoughts

PACK Guardians,

"It's a great day for a great day" and we had a great week at Hubbard! Homecoming is two weeks away and we are looking forward to a great time. We are working on a master tutorial list to send out so you know what days which teachers have tutorials for your child. Please help us by checking your student's grades/attendance and letting them know we are a partnership! We are always open to meeting with parents to ensure their child's success! Here are some reminders:

HOMECOMING - This will be the week of October 9th-13th. There will be a 6th grade dance after school from 4-5:30pm and 7/8th 6-7:30pm. More information will come later but here is the theme for the week:

Monday - "Color out for the Huskies" 6th - Black, 7th - White, 8th - Orange

Tuesday - Crocodile Hunter - Wear Steve Irwin style clothes because its GATOR season!

Wednesday - Country vs. Country Club

Thursday - Tacky Tourist

Friday - Mums and Overalls (no bells/whistles on the mums)

We will have a homecoming parade on Tuesday where the football/cheer walk the campus and are cheered on by ALL students as opposed to only one grade level. Parents will have a designated location as well.

***Repeat***

DC/NY Trip - Do you have an 8th grader who wants an AWESOME experience and opportunity to go to Washington DC and NYC over spring break? Reach out to our fantastic AVID teacher, Candace Veatch, and get more info! (candace.veatch@tylerisd.org)

Attendance/Truancy/Credit Denial letters - I know it is early in the year, but we already have some students who are accruing absences to the point that you will receive letters from the campus/district. Compulsory attendance is outlined in our Hubbard Guardian Handbook and is a requirement by the state of Texas. Students are required to be at school 90% of the time or they can face retention as well as you face truancy charges. Please work with the campus to communicate absences and get your students to school as much as possible.

Free and reduced lunch - Please either return your free and reduced lunch form or fill it out online: https://www.mealappnow.com/mantyl/splash.php The rollover deadline from last year is September 27th. After that time, students will not be given free lunch based on last year's qualifications.

Campus texts - If you are not receiving the campus text messages, please text “start” to 98900 to begin getting messages again.

Master Teacher Bagel Bar

Do you know what a "Master Teacher" is? They are support staff on our campus who are professionals and expert in their areas whose job is to make our teachers better. They lead with a servant's heart and provided a bagel bar for their teachers this week. Second from the left is Katherine Bozick who leads English/Socials studies and on the far right is Rhona Meads who leads Math/Science. They are fantastic!
