Dear Parents,
Here are some dates to keep in mind:
Thursday, July 27, from 12-6 pm will be Meet the Teacher (more information about this below)
Tuesday, August 1 is the First Day of School! (more information below)
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call at 397-2400. We look forward to seeing you soon!
TECH IT HOME
TECH IT HOME fees will be collected at Meet the Teacher from all students in grades K5 - 5th grade. Due to the increasing cost of our insurance on student devices, Tech It Home Fees will be $25 for the 2023-2024 school year. All K5-5th grade students will receive a device to go home this school year. Devices are not to go home until the fee is paid and we have cleared students to begin taking them home. This fee may be paid by cash, check or on My School Bucks.
First Day of School
We are so excited to see all of our students on the first day of school!
On the first day, the school will be open between 7:30 and 8:00 for students to enter.
If you have a student in 3K, 4K, 5K, 1st grade, or are new to SME, you are invited to park and walk your student into the school. With our new construction, parking is going to be a challenge this year. However, you are welcome to park in the grass or in any available space if you want to walk your student into the classroom. At 8:00, parents will need to exit the building so that we can begin the day.
3K and 4K parents may walk their student in August 1 and 2. Beginning August 3, all students will need to walk in. We will have fifth graders and adults at every entrance to help students arrive safely in classrooms.
On a regular day, if you are dropping off your student, here is what to do:
1. 3K and 4K students (as well as students riding with them) will drop off in the back of the school in the bus loop between 7:45 and 8:00. Please do not drop off before 7:45 as the buses will still be in this lane. There will be flags to indicate drop off area.
2. Students who would like to eat breakfast should drop off in front of the cafeteria. To do this, enter in the middle lane and then you will be directed to the curb lane to drop off.
3. Students who would NOT like breakfast can be dropped off either in front of the K5 wing or in front of cafeteria. Please use the curbside lane or middle lane.
Dismissal will begin at 2:15 for 3K, 4K, and 5K. All other students will be dismissed at 2:30. Please see the pictures below to see the lane for picking up your student.
**SEE BELOW FOR VIDEOS EXPLAINING ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES.
