Trice As Nice

I would like to introduce the newest member of the Trice family, Mrs. Lisa Dowdy. Mrs. Dowdy is coming to us from Wake Village where she taught 1st grade for 17 years. Mrs. Dowdy began her teaching career with TASD at Washington Middle School where she taught 6th grade for five years before she took a break from teaching to raise her two sons, Michael and Jacob. Mrs. Dowdy and her husband, Delbert Dowdy, have been married for 34 years. Mrs. Dowdy will be teaching 4th grade.

Monday--K-4 science curriculum PD.

Tuesday--Leader in Me training at Trice 8:30-3:30--Lunch will be provided courtesy of Julie's Deli.

Wednesday--Leader in Me training at Trice 8:30-3:30--Lunch will be provided courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Thursday--Leader in Me training at Trice 8:30-3:30--Lunch will be provided courtesy of Slim Chicken.

Friday--Class lists will be posted.

August 7th- 9th--Nuts and Bolts PD at Trice.

August 8th--District Breakfast and Ruby Payne.

August 10th--Meet the teacher 4:30-6:30. Staff hours 12:30-6:30.

I know some of you have been asking about the master schedule. I plan to release the master schedule on Tuesday morning at the beginning of Leader in Me training. We will not have a lot of time to discuss, however. If you have any questions or comments about the schedule, please write your questions on a post it note and place it on the "Master Schedule Parking Lot." We will address your concerns at the end of the day after Leader in Me training. We will have people attending LIM training from others campuses and school districts and I don't want to keep them for matters that do not concern them.

Construction on the playground is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 31st. There will be several pieces of equipment removed along with the gravel and mulch. In its place new fall material and barriers as well as a new swing set and tic-tac-toe board will be installed. All work should take approximately one week to complete, just in time for the new school year.

There will be science curriculum training for teachers in grades 3 and 4 on Monday, July 31st, in the board room of the administration office from 8:30-3:30. Teachers will need to bring their teacher edition and a device to access the online features. To sign up for the 3-4 science professional development, use session number 324155 in Shoebox. K-2 teachers who need professional development hours may sign up for science curriculum planning in shoebox using session number 326479. K-2 training will be held at Trice on Monday, July 31st, from 8:30-3:30.

Leader in Me training will start on Tuesday, August 1st, at 8:30. Lunch will be provided. On Tuesday we will have chicken spaghetti and salad courtesy of Julie's Deli, Wednesday we will have pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut on State Line, Thursday we will have chicken strips and French fries courtesy of Slim Chickens. We want to express or gratitude to these community partners for graciously providing us with lunch so that we may continue the work of developing our school and students into leaders.

Prior to training please download the free 7 habits app on your mobile device. Once you create an account with your user name and password, go into settings and scroll down to the bottom to "session ID", and click on it. There you will enter in "habit89". This will open up more resources for you to access and we will be using the app during our 3 days of training.
