Action Items
Change of Board
The newly-elected board members were sworn-in as members of the Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education. As a group they took the Oath of Office officially joining the Board.
The newest additions to the GIPS Board of Education are:
- Eric Garcia-Mendez - Ward C
- Hank McFarland - Ward B
- Katie Mauldin - Ward C
- Josh Sikes - Ward A
- Amanda Wilson - Ward A

Election of Board Officers
The Board also operates with two internally elected officers of President and Vice President.
Here is what the process looks like:
- Nominations were called for by oral ballot.
- Voting was conducted by written ballot.
- Motions were made and accepted for the Board President and V.P. officers.
The GIPS Board President will be Mr. Hank McFarland with a voting margin of (5-4).
GIPS Board Vice President will be Mr. Dave Hulinsky with a margin of (5-4).

Executive Session
Interim Superintendent Search
The Board met in executive session for the purpose of discussing the interim Superintendent search.
Upon reconvening from Executive Session, the Board shared their intention to interview three candidates for the Interim Superintendent position. Names and credentials of candidates will be shared later in the week after they have been contacted and agreed to interviews.
The official motion to authorize NASB to contact the three candidates discussed in Executive Session to have interviews be scheduled for a later time was made.
Motion Passed: 9 - 0
What's Next?
GIPS Interim Superintendent Search
- NASB will contact the three candidates to see if they will agree to be interviewed by the GIPS Board and agree to have their names publicly announced as a finalist.
- GIPS will share a public release with the names and times of the upcoming candidate interviews.
- After interviews, The Board (at a public meeting) will present and vote on naming an interim Superintendent for the district.
